A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
I've been noticing that almost a month after the MMDA started to strictly enforce the buses-on-the-yellow-lane rule along EDSA, the enforcement is getting lax again.
Buses are now poking into the 3rd lane once again (OFTEN HAPHAZARDLY, as usual) and occasionally take up half of the 4th lane at speed when avoiding other buses.
Also noticed that when the traffic starts to crawl on the bus lanes, some [NON PROVINCIAL] buses start going up the flyovers/into tunnels yet again.
Plying along EDSA along the first week, I was eerily reminded of Hong Kong highways, where cars taking a certain route would only crowd (and in a very organized line) certain parts of the highway, leaving the others clear for other motorists to use.
Somehow, I wanted to hope these would work. Oh well.
Anyone seem to notice this too?

Mas gusto ko pa nga pag ginagamit nila yung flyover.
And although I don't use the buses along EDSA since I always use my car, naawa ako sa mga pasahero ng mga bus. Imagine how long will it take before they reach their office.
Hindi naman kasi yan ang problema eh -- use of yellow lane -- main problem diyan yung number of buses that ply along EDSA, sobrang dami.

Yeah, if there's one thing cramming them onto the yellow lane has shown, it's the blatant excessive number of buses that we have on EDSA today.
It's a choke point for a lot of people coming from Q.C. and Marikina.

yep ... especially in areas na walang MMDA :nonono:

Ningas kugon. What's new.

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
Mahuli man sila bibigay nila "talahib" na lisensya.

Have you tried tweeting them or posting pics/vids on their FB page? The MMDA has people working the social media beat. For all its worth at least you have something to do while waiting for them buses to move

I agree with the post that said that this has shown that there are too many buses on EDSA.
Hopefully the MMDA and LTO and the LTRFB collaborate to make things happen. When the Buses and private vehicles stay in their respective lanes, MODERATE VOLUME, MODERATE SPEED TRAFFIC CAN HAPPEN.

Unfortunately, my phone cam is far from up to date and will probably only catch a blurry side of a bus as it tries to create accidents - I mean, change lanes along EDSA.

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
Just last week, i lost it and really confronted one of these bus drivers on Santolan - EDSA (since i was stuck beside him in traffic). All the cars were lined up to go under the flyover during the morning rush (i myself included) and then you have a Mayamy bus coming from the 3rd lane (outside the yellow lane) and he bullied himself into the bus lane just at the base of the flyover. When i opened my window and asked the conductor why they did that, his reasoning was that the line was backed up daw and there was no other way in. Eh ogags pala siya, he was supposed be in that line from the beginning and never went out of the yellow lane (which i told him with some commonly used expletives).
I just couldnt help it as i saw that bus bully their way in and in the process, he caused traffic that was going straight on EDSA to back up because he blocked out one whole lane.

that's the answer. they're just plain lowest of the low.

Bus driver genocide? Hmm....

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
Not sure.
Hindi lang naman kasi sila gumagamit nung yellow lane, add the private vehicles that pass through it.
Ewan ko ba. Wala na pagasa EDSA.

wala na kasi power ang natural selection to eliminate the unfit
kaya dapat artificial selection

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
Then they "reintroduced" the yellow lane, so-so success as usual. Wait for another bus-induced accident para gumana yung creative juices ni Tolentino...

Main problem of the MMDA... no budget to maintain a single "road discipline" project for more than a week or so.
Secondary problem... too many buses on EDSA. You can throw out half the buses and still have enough left over for an efficient mass transport system.

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
What's the latest news with the buses on EDSA? Is anyone doing anything to reduce their number? Or sinabi lang nila na "we have 12,000 buses on EDSA" but ultimately do nothing about it? :twak2:

Re: A Month in - EDSA Bus Segregation, no longer enforced?
the main problem is they have common routes.
whatever route the operator applies, LTFRB just approve it.
it should be connect-connect.
