hi guys i'm new to this forum and was hoping to get your insights.

i'm planning to get a ford escape among other choices because of its solid body, ford's reputation and wide network of dealers, and my preference for gas over diesel because of poor diesel quality in the country.

i'd also like to keep this car longer than its warranty and beyond, and i believe maintaining a gas vehicle would be easier/cheaper in the long run. judging by the number of escapes i see on the road i think it's pretty reliable. gas will not be an issue since i commute to work because there's no parking in makati! i also prefer cruising whenever i drive so i have a light right foot.

anyway, on to my concern: this will be my first car and don't know if i should buy top of the line - xlt 4x4. i'm not an offroader but i'd like to have that option. i am based in manila but go to the north quite often for some hiking/camping/biking and plan to use this for other long road trips i.e. ilocos, pagudpud. there's still plenty of dirt/unpaved roads in the north. what do you guys think? and would you know of anyone who has brought his/her escape to sagada?

Magandang kotse ang Escape. Tibay talaga. Engine performance, though not exactly the best out there, is more than adequate. You can still do speeds of 200km/h in the highway if you want. If you want in 4x4 trim, then get it in 4x4 trim! The 4x4 is surprisingly capable. Much more so than its sissy all wheel drive competitors, except perhaps for the Grand Vitara 4x4. Just avoid the river crossings. Water is the Escape's waterloo due to the low position of the air intake.

thanks GTi! yup it may not be the most updated but i'm sure it's one of the most solidly built and reliable in the category. would you know if the 4wd button is shift on the fly? and thanks for the heads up, i don't plan on taking any river crossings in the future. i'm looking at obstacles such as landslide covered roads on the halsema hiway and dirt roads in sagada.

The Escape 4x4's 4WD system automatically engages when it detects slipping. There's also a 4x4 lock mode, but that's for low speeds only.

hi sir, highly recommendable kasi nung pinagbilan namin yung NAA. Though I made the replacement of mentioned parts sa mazford banawe. after that ok naman. and yes, sobrang laki ng difference sa gastos wala pang 10k. hindi din pinapalitan ng mazford yung fan module kasi lumalalamig naman daw yung a/c.

    Need to up this thread...

Good day mga bro! A relative of mine is considering getting an Escape XLS M/T 4x2. With its current market price of around 200+k to 300+k, it offers much value for money. Yun nga lang yung ibang tanong niya hindi ko masagot since ang amin ay yung XLT A/T 4x4. Kumusta naman ang performance and fuel consumption nito? The 2.0L 4x4 A/T is sluggish and a heavy drinker. Yung walang hiya kasinlakas uminom ng mga V6 pero pipigain at pipigain para bibilis. But I've oftentimes heard that the M/T is very much different. Any inputs?

    hello to everyone!
I have been researching about ford escape and came into this very useful forum.
I am seriously planning to purchase this yr2005 2.3 xls 4x2 Ford Escape with mileage: 58,000km for 400K.
is this a good buy or should I try to ask for a bit more discount?

and I am very new to Ford actually this will be our first.
I am drivng a Toyota and Nissan now and drove a Rover, Renault and Volkswagen before.
for a lady driver like myself, is the ford escape good for me?
is the Ford escape high maintenance and costs a lot?

    TIA!

The local-spec 2005 Escape XLS has a height-adjustable driver's seat, at least based on the online photos i've seen.

Maintenance of ASEAN Ford models (local or Thai assembled) are more or less close to those of new gen Japanese branded vehicles.
It's the large CBU (completedly built unit) from North America models that have higher maintenance costs.

If you live in Metro Manila and you don't want to go to the casa, you can buy parts in Banawe st, QC in shops like MazFord and Fordland.
