agree me ky otep!starex n lng!
everest ka na lang diesel na matipid pa 14km/liter (sabi ng sales rep)
me promo nga pala sila ngayun 20% down zero interest
if you care about driving dynamics on pavement, stick to the compact SUVs. very big difference. the responsiveness and refinement of the gas engine on the highway is much more comfortable than an old-tech diesel, like the one in the everest.
on the highway, matipid na din ang gas engines, kahit yung mga malalaki.
I have the Ford Escape 2.3L very happy ako sa kanya, para sa akin image ang pinili ko over the mazda hehehe amercan car kuno hehehe.....yun nga lang kung family, maliit siya kasi five seater lang.....ngayon consumption ko is 5-5.5km/liter bago pa kasi and city driving lang....
my friend has the everest m/t sa kanya daw 6km/l city driving.....
I also have the starex a/t before the CRDi comfy ang ride niya, the problem is 5km/L lang siya! mas matipid pa escape ko! hehehe di ko nga alam problema ng starex ko eh....other tsikoteers said kasi daw mahina engine for the body kaya hirap that's why malakas consumption, I think its true....
go for the escape happy talaga ako sa kanya hehehe Until now I still get "goosebumps" when I'm going to drive it hehehe.....
1.08M budget...
if i were you i'll scout pre-owned SUVs ang daming mo ng choices sa price range mo
99 Pajero AT(Blister Fender/2.8TDic) nasa 850K
2000 or 01 Isuzu Trooper 3.0 TDIc
Toyota Landcruiser 90 Prado 3.0, built like a truck.

So many choices talaga.
On the Escape, space is good but i find the design to be somewhat ageing already when compared to the CRV, XTrail and Rav. As mentioned, get at least the 2.3L engine option (wala na atang 2.0).
Since you do some highway driving and have a family, amongst your choices I'd vote for the Ford Everest (turbo diesel engine, truck chassis).
If you open up the choices, try to consider also the Starex 2.5 TDIC (not the CRDI version)... we just bought one recently and we're quite happy with it (plus parts and service knowledge is already widespread)... and of course, the Innova G is also worth looking at and test driving.
If you're looking to consider a 2nd hand SUV, try to get one that is as new as possible... for 1.08 you can look at a '00-'01 model Pajero 4x2 or maybe one of the last unit '00-'01 Nissan Safari (around P800-P900K depending on the condition).
Hindi ba kaya ma fix ng 1m yung Everest kasi nung may naka display dito sa Mega "March 2005" sabi nung sales rep kaya daw...fit yun sa budget mo.
Ok naman performance kaya lang medyo mabigat yung body kaya better get M/t, though malakas naman once na mag spool yung turbo *80km/h, for a five seater very comportable (though meron pang third row seat pero pang children yun)
For 1m budget ok sya, If you willing to spend more then mas marami kang choice.
atleast kung bebenta mo siya hinde ka ganun kabilis ang depreciationthough maghahanap ka talaga ng magandang unit para sriwa talaga in and out
When going uphill, the 2.0L engine of Escape seems not enough for its quite heavy entry-level SUV body. Hirap talaga. Naiiwan ng revo 2.0L gas on uphill terrain. But once it's medyo fast, ok na. Had my escape for almost two years now. slow to ok engine pick-up at start but zooms to 150kph with smoothness and ease. quiet engine... classy interior.
pero i heard 2.3L na lang viariant nila and yung V6. so ok ka na. good price.
i don't like xtrail. plastic yung loob.
Had a test drive of everest before. Me and my family did not like the suspension, mas malambot pa yung 2002 adventure ko. We settled with the escape 2.3 eventually and up to now, I'm happy with its performance, comfy ride and great interior.
I suggest you do test drive all your choices. Take your family with you para loaded sya when doing the test drive. Ask their comments - it's important coz when you do long drive on a family outing. it will make the difference.
I really like the escape because interior space is abundant and the trademark "XL" size center console storage bins of Ford... what I don't like? The steering mounted shift lever(the design make it feel old - imo) although this is handy since it frees up more space.
Ford is really giving good promos lately. The Escape and Everest are certainly worth looking into because of the pricing advantage over their competitors. Personally, I'd go for the Escape. While the look is getting a bit old, it doesn't look like Ford will make any major exterior styling changes in the near future. What I don't like about the Everest is that the seats are too low to the floor so you feel like you are crouching rather than sitting and the rear cargo area is too high making it a little difficult to hoist heavy stuff onto the back. To me, its really more of a pick-up than an SUV.
Escape is a nice SUV. The ride is better than 2nd gen CRV. The looks is nice. I have no bad comments on this vehicle except the resell price is low. just likes expedition & explorer sportrac.
There's one on display at SM City North EDSA now. Red color. XLS 4x2 2.3L They didn't change the radio pa din. same single in-dash.
I drove one and liked it pero i think medyo under powered nga because of the body. Parang ang bigat ng feeling ko while driving it. Overall, this is a nice ride. Yun nga lang, I heard from my friends na gulper ang Escapes and CRVs. Considering today's oil prices, I will veer away from 2.0's. Ideal talaga ngayon ang diesel at very reliable talaga. I'd rather look for a good pre-owned Pajero or other diesel rides that will fit my budget. But that's just me ...
My sister bought her escape M/T last year and just a few months after we encountered problems on the clutch. (not that my sister is a clutch driver). It felt like that the clutch plate was slipping so it was quite difficult on the first gear and reverse. We returned the car just in time for the warranty and everything was replaced. Kaso nga lang after one day from the CASA, we heard a loud noise at the bottom and we couldn't remove it from first gear. Pero ngayon ok na.
I Love my Escape 2.3L yeah baby! hehehehe.....gusto ko siya parating i-drive! hehe
