The ASEAN EcoSport will be made in Thailand, they will most likely share engines with the ASEAN Fiesta which is also built in Thailand. The 1.4, 1.5 & 1.6 Ti-VCT engines are E20 capable only.

That's because Ford (regionally) has only announced that the ASEAN EcoSport will be built at Ford's new plant in Thailand, no specific production dates or launch dates have been announced.

All we know is Ford Philippines invited the local media/motoring journalists to go to the debut of the EcoSport concept in India last January (Its featured in the March issues of Top Gear Philippines). I guess that's a hint that we could be one of the ASEAN countries that will get the 2013 EcoSport

so all these 7 pages is just wishful thinking? don't get me wrong, i'll probably buy one especially now that i am in the market for a small suv to replace my 4 year old suv. if ford will just say definitely they will bring this into the philippines on january 2013, with so and so specs, then i can wait. and maybe other people who are also in the market for a compact suv will wait. inviting reporters to a product launch 5000 km away in january then leaving everyone high and dry waiting for news is pure horse dung! shows you how important ford looks at this market segment - "hell yeah let them cheap compact suv customers wait, they're not important to us!" is what i read from all these waiting and wondering with no official news whatsoever. it's been 6 months, it is way past the time already! really, don't you get tired making guesses on what ford is going to do?

i'm pretty sure there are some ford dealer possers here. get your act together please. your marketting gimmick of waiting to see if there is a demand has worn out already.

This site is not only for car owners, its also for car enthusiasts who want to discuss about the latest products (including concept cars) and automotive industry related news.

Dealers/ sales agents often times know zero about these future products, months ago I asked about the new Focus, the new Mazda 3 and Colorado pickup at their own dealerships/ show displays (Ford, Mazda, Chevy) and they couldn't answer my questions, sales agents usually only answer what they are trained to answer.

If you want to know about new vehicles that will be sold here, check for regional (ASEAN) news or post questions on the brands local FB page if they have one. This goes for any brand.

Another place you might want to check are local car news sites like Top Gear Ph for example.

As in strictly E20 only? E10 lang dito sa atin.

No, when a carmaker says, E20 capable, it means you can load up to E20 (20% ethanol) fuel.
You can also load fuel blends with less ethanol or fuel with no ethanol.

E20 is available in Thailand, I read that E20 capable cars there also get lower tax.

sa dami ng i-rerelease ni Ford dito, i doubt if priority eto. Ford has to release the new Escape first before this. or they can ditch the Escape and proceed on with this. just what like Mazda did with CX5 over CX7.

imho, hindi practical for a dealer to offer two variants of gasoline CUVs dito sa'tin, bec. it's gasoline.

yun nga fiesta and focus, nakikita ko na redudancy eh. unless Ford concentrates on the diesel version of the Focus, and retain the gasoline fiesta. at least hindi competing ang sarili nila models.

though Kia has the soul and the sportage. pero parang nagsasayang lang ng resource ang Kia dun sa dalawang models na yun, none of which made it to mainstream pa din

sportage dumadami na, (probably because of the new entry level trim)

all they have to do is also offer a Soul price @ vios levels

Ford already announced that the next model to be built in their new facility in Thailand is the EcoSport, I guess this means it will be introduced ahead of the 2013 Escape/Kuga.
    - Ford EcoSport set to be second model built at Ford’s new Thai plant – Fiesta goes the 1.5 Ti-VCT route in Thailand

The Mazda CX-5 (proper compact crossover SUV size) replaces the slightly larger CX-7 (between compact and mid-size, though some consider it mid-size)

Production of the old Escape will continue till the Santa Rosa plant shuts down in December, the old Escape will probably still be on sale till the early part of 2013.
Ford Philippines still hasn't announced the next batch of new models to be launched, if you ask them through their FB page, they'll most likely tell you to wait for future announcements.

I don't think the Fiesta and Focus are redundant.
One is larger and offers more options than the other.

The Kia Sportage is just not as popular as its Hyundai twin, the Tucson, but they are both in the same (mainstream) compact crossover SUV segment. I'd take the Sportage between the two though.
I think the Soul is an interesting car, I guess people here are probably not yet ready to spend extra cash on a B-segment sized Kia.
