Imagine how successful could that been if it reached us before.

Mazda says no to a new pickup based SUV.
A Mazda source at the 2012 Paris motor show revealed that the company turned down an offer from Ford to have a second twin based on the Ranger ‘T6’ platform that also sits beneath the BT-50.
“We looked at the global market and weren’t convinced there was a great demand for a seven-seater, ute-based SUV,” said the Mazda source.

“Mitsubishi has the Triton-based Challenger, but its sales figures aren’t the kind that would encourage us to offer such a vehicle.

The Proceed Marvie was also sold as the Ford Raider, this was the last pickup-based SUV for Mazda.
By the way, this concept isn't new since Ford and GM have also been doing pickup-based SUVs in the US for decades.

The outgoing Everest is based on the old Mazda-based Ranger, but was developed by Ford, I guess this explains why the outgoing Everest looks like an old Explorer when viewed from the side.

Like the New Ranger, the all-new Everest was developed fully by Ford.

What 2.5L Diesel engine are they going to use? Especially that no 2.5L is offered with the Ranger. I still believe that's a typo and we're getting 2.2L and 3.2L.

Cool di ba? It's one of the rare Port Irene models I'm so curious about.

We'll most likely get that engine too because the new top-of-the-line Ranger Wildtrak sold here already uses that 3.2 liter 5-cylinder Duratorq TDCi engine.
