The 2.0 liter EcoBoost FWD model also has a lower towing capacity of only 2,000 lbs compared to 5,000 lbs of the FWD & 4WD V6 models.

The TOTL Explorer is the luxurious 4WD Limited V6, shouldn't the TOTL engine be in the TOTL model?
IMO TOTL dapat yung V6 since ito yung may fulltime 4WD eh. I'm sure the FE 2.0Ltr is fitted with the more fuel efficient FWD configuration din for those in living in the urban areas and for less-guilt feeling (global warming) while owning a car previously considered as gas guzzlers.

FWD V6 VS FWD Ecoboost and everything else the same...

By the way the Ecoboost might have lower HP and torque but it has better torque on the low end. Might be the engine of choice for these kinds of vehicles. Torque at low revs plus fuel economy benefits...
    Lets just wait and see.
I'm surprised that the EcoBoost equipped Explorer has a much lower towing capacity, less than half of the V6 model.
2,000 lbs vs the 5,000 lbs of the FWD & AWD V6 models.

According to the FordPH Facebook page (I know and met the person behind FordPH and Fiesta in the Phil ) both AWD and FWD will be available here. So that means 3 variants including the Ecoboost next year.

Ano ba diff ng AWD & FWD? A stands for All and F stands for Four or Full (naguguluhan ako ), pag ganon they meaning is synonymous lang, All as in lahat then pag Four naman, all 4 gulong, so All din

FWD stands for FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. Its a 4X2 only. Front pulls the car and the engine at the front.

    AWD - All Wheel Drive

Yung apat na gulong, gumagana. Silang apat yung humihila sa kotse.

    FWD - Front Wheel Drive

Only the 2 wheels at front are working/spinning. Yung 2 wheels at the back, kaya umiikot nahihila lang siya ng 2 gulong sa harap.

if you jack up the car then press on the gas pedal, the 2 wheels at the back remains stationary while the 2 wheels up front will spin.

sa AWD, if you jack up the vehicle then press on the gas pedal, all four wheels will spin. nothing will remain stationary, well .. except for the car of course.

Kaya if you're gonna dyno an FWD car, only the front wheels will be in the spinner?? ( yung parang sa treadmill ).

do we need to explain kung ano naman yung RWD ? ..

Dagdag na rin natin, 4WD = 4 wheel drive, mas hardcore sa AWD kasi technically mas heavy duty. BTW, puwede full time as in parang AWD na rin or part-time 4WD lang meaning you can choose between 2WD or 4WD.

Bale mas matipid sa gas ang FWD, right?

Akala ko kasi 4WD & FWD same lang, iniba lang yung character

    hi butch,

i hope it doesnt take that long. i wouldn't want to miss out on the new explorer but it would be impractical for me to wait until 2013.

anyway, sana kahit by 4th quarter of the current year meron na.

The current press release of Ford Philippines is 4th quarter of this year ang release ng Explorer. But it could mean display unit pa lang ang available tapos pag bebenta baka next year pa hehehe! I'm also waiting for this one. Sana nga agahan nila yung release habang mababa pa yung exchange rate. Baka kapag antayin pa nila next year or 2013... baka 50 plus pesos na exchange rate hehe!

The Ford Explorer is very much here in the Philippines. I was lucky enough to get invited by Ford Philippines on their unveiling of the new Ford Explorer. No prices yet but date is October 2011. Some pics...
