Yours should have the updated version since it's 2013 model already. Are they still updating those just recently release units? Shouldn't they have updated that before release or nagtitipid lang sila sa gas cause it should be running idle during downloading.

I believe there is still an update available for the MFT from version 3.0.2 to version 3.2.2. Also, I just want to make sure whether or not my unit still requires an ECU re-program for the cooling fan.

sorry to butt in but this was my question in an earlier post. our unit is set to come out this or next week so i assume it's 2013 and i asked if they can do the MFT update and cooling fan check/repair. are these still needed for 2013? thx.

I definitely have that smell during hard acceleration, but I think some members have reported none. As per posts in explorerforum.com, there isn't an official solution to the problem yet. Til then, I limit hard accelerations while driving.

After checking out the EGR Integrated Side Steps again, parang nagbago na isip ko. Nakita ko kasi sa mga iba't-ibang sites side steps for Kia Sorento and Kia Sportage. Parang BMW OE style ang dating.



I will keep looking for something like this. MAs maganda kasi pag integrated kesa parang pinilit lang. I'm anticipating na mahihirapan sumakay baby girl namin in the future kasi. Ngayon pa lang hirap na si misis sumakay lalu't pagkarga ang baby.

So far my 6 & 3-year olds can climb up and jump down the Explo

Wala pa rin yung letter ko from FGP. Pag wala pa rin dumating this week, tatawag na ako next week.

Don't know if I put this here, but final update on economy.

Ford Explorer GTDI

Mixed, total economy for full test drive, 6.57 km/l over 300 kms.

City driving only: 3-5 km/l.

Super-Birit driving: 4.5 km/l. (This is why my combined is only 6.5 km/l!)

Highway driving (typically 3 kms from house/mall to tollgate, 15-20 kms on highway): 8-12 km/l, depending on driving style.

Highway steady-state driving:
14 km/l at 100 km/h
16 km/l at 80 km/h
18 km/l at 70 km/h

I doubt you could hold 18 km/l for very long. I'd expect you would only see 14-16 km/l for the full trip on the typical DOE 300 km trip.

Overall, I see only a 10-15% advantage in real-world economy compared to the V6. If you want a bigger difference, you have to really stay off the boost. If you boost all the time, economy is almost exactly the same.

Other observations:

-Rides better with the 18" wheels than the V6, but less weight means it doesn't smother waves in the highway as well
-Leather nice, but not as nice, I think as the V6.
-Better mid-range acceleration. Feels faster at any speed below 100 km/h
-Runs out of puff at 120-140 km/h. From there it's a crawl to the 180 km/h limiter, compared to the V6
-Test unit does NOT have latest MFT. No compass on the homescreen. At least this one has the right date programmed in!

i saw one when i got my explorer, the one i saw was one of the first ecoboost that arrived here in the philippines. manual folding 3rd row, manual tailgate, i think the seats are manual as well or no memory seat, don't remember if it had sunroof or not but if it had one i think it's a lot smaller than the limited's sunroof. don't remember what other features it doesn't have since i only took a quick look at it. for the price and features of the ecoboost, i'd rather get a fully loaded 2013 santa fe.

I do like those wheels, though. Very tasty design, very sporty. More practical tham the dubs.

Lately I've seen 3 Ecoboost Explorers on the road. 1 blue and 2 silvers. Maybe they're the ones who are willing to let go of some of the nice features of the V6, and are happy with having just the MFT. Oh wait! I remember 2 Ford SAs (magkaiba sila ng branch) telling me that the Ecoboost Explorer has the AdvanceTrac as standard equipment.

It's possible AdvanceTRAC with RSC is a dealer option, but this test unit felt like it didn't have Curve Control or Roll Control. Curve Control is actually fairly intrusive on the V6, but it didn't raise a peep when I was driving.

According to the leaflet I have, the 2.0 ECO-BOOST also has the 2nd row inflatable seat belts, Rear Parking Sensors, 6-way passenger seat, audio with 8 speakers, 17" alloy (must've upgraded to 18"), power mirrors, etc.

Just out of curiosity, were you alone or with passengers while driving the 2.0 ECO-BOOST? I've read in many articles that the fuel consumption gets worse when the number of passengers increases. Thus, it seems that the Ford engineers missed the fundamentals of body-to-weight aspects. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ford in the US was initially asking for $1,500 if you wanted the 2.0 ECO-BOOST engine. Then, due to many complaints from buyers, the 2.0 ECO-BOOST became a base model or have foregone the additional $1,500.

On a different note: GAS PRICES ARE BOUND TO ROLLBACK NEXT WEEK! It could be between P.25 and P.50 for gasoline variants. Just in time for the upcoming long weekend!!! woot woot!!

Yes to all. As for AdvanceTRAC. The literature doesn't show it at all. And personally, it really doesn't feel like it. The ride is a little less composed over single wheel bumps (which are what show you whether your anti-roll bars are aggressive or loose) and you don't get that feeling of the car "turning itself" when you go into a corner hard.

I drove both with passengers and alone. And yes, I got my best economy alone... but the data set is too small for me to draw conclusions from this, and I still got 12 km/l with passengers. What I can draw conclusions on is that if you drive it hard, you get the same economy as the V6 in the same conditions...
