The oem hid system of the your vehicle is d3S type, not very common for ballasts and bulb replacement. The first two units I did had oem bulbs and aftermarket ballasts with oem internals, i.e it is an a.c ballasts and the internals are the same as the matsushita ones that I sell. Personally if I have your vehicle, I would get oem bulbs, Philips 85122+ made in Germany and the aftermarket ballasts. In more than 2 years of doing this, the quality of these ballasts is comparable with the oem ones and it is very reliable. I have it in my Jazz 2009 and up to know hindi pa ako nagpapalit and not a single time that it did not fire up my bulbs.
3ple4: OEM is from Ford but actually Osram ang HID system ng Ford Explorer 2012. The bulbs and ballasts are Osrams. All others would be considered aftermarket. Very important lang to know what aftermarket units to install. The projectors that I use are aftermarket but the output is miles away from the stock projectors from Ford. From the looks of the oem projector, it looks like its European made, Hella or Bosch.
prostee: I make my own wiring harness for this package and it is oem in specifications. wire sizes, insulation type, etc. Walang puputulin sa stock harness mo. The stock elec syst is fully isolated from the hid system that I install.
The projectors are aftermarket but as I mentioned, it is far better than the oem ones which are halogen projectors with a lowering shield for the High output (parang bixenon na hid pero halogen lang), weird for Ford to do this. Will PM you.
I also have a hid fog projector package for this vehicle.

*3ple4 please check attached link picture of upgrade myford touch, newer version new inteface
Haven't checked my version but looking at the interface, parang walang pinagkaiba sa akin.
Pwede mo picturan yung plaka mo with the deflector cover (erase mo na lang plate number). Coz after trying the Deflector cover, ang nakita lang namin solution is babaan yung cover para hindi tumama sa rear view camera. Paano mo pala kinabit yung sa harap? Tinanggal mo ba yung black plastic panel or pinatong mo yung Deflector frame sa black plastic panel?
My friend also recommened tempered glass to cover the plates kaso di ba parang mabigat? Haven't looked at acrylic but I guess shops like Ace Hardware, Handyman & Blade do not sell acrylic covers. Dapat ata sa Banawe ako pumunta.
*macsd: Ford Global claimed that the gas tank is seal proof and only the nozzles from gas stations can open the gas lid. So hindi daw kayang sipsipin yung gas. Or maybe they just didn't know what they were talking about![]()
Sir garyq, Just for clarification, does the OEM package comes with original wiring harness for the explorer or are we using the same wiring system including the fuse as for the halogen bulb. As I understand, the OEM HID uses lower wattage than the halogen bulbs.
And does the OEM package comes with the OEM projector reflectors also?
And lastly, pls PM me the price of both OEM and aftermarket HIDs and the location of your shop.
Many thanks
Sa mga may plaka na... nilagyan nyo ba ng car plate cover? If yes, anong klase yung sa inyo?
I've tried Deflector, hindi sya pwd sa likod kasi makapal yung cover so tumatama dun sa back up camera. May nakatabi akong bronze Explorer before and naka-Deflector.
i have experience installing into european spec plate holes... bumili ako europlate and europlate frame (without cover), riveted the Ph plate on top of the europlate, attach the plate assembly to a europlate holder that is already secured to the vehicle... so in effect, the bolts are hidden, the plate assembly was secured via clips into the plate holder (re-secured with cable ties for more security)... i just painted the Ph plates with a clear spray paint. So far the assembly is intact for 6years now and there is no fade in the colors of the plate because of the clear paint. Also, while it is not theft-proof, mapapaisip muna yong magnanakaw kung papano nanakawin kc complicado ang assembly and sometimes that hesitation can spell the difference.
If I can find a US plate and frame I will do the same again to the rear. I have no plan yet for the front since I don't want to remove yet the Ford Alabang Sticker covering the holes but probably I will just bolt to the plastic holder that comes with the unit... btw, did you notice that the front plate frame is so flimsy you can lift the corners off the bumper?
Lift the corners of the bumper? Eh buo yung bumper di ba? I was able to take out the black plastic frame where you install the plate. I tried to install the Deflector cover (without the black plastic frame) since the holes are oblong so it can fit American cars. But ang problema ay hindi malagyan ng washer sa likod (para mas mahigpit for extra security) kasi walang butas sa ilalim ng bumper or anywhere to insert the washer.
Ako, I always put car plate covers in my cars kasi baka sa katagalan, mabura yung pintura ng plaka.
What other car plate covers brands are out there?
Just to share. Gas lid cover with lock available sa Ford Alabang for 1.3K.
Considering that the gas lid can be easily open from the outside, this help to
prevent intruders from placing unwanted elements into the gas tank or higupan ng gas.
This is more of safety gadget.
How to post picture , so i can show you mine?

*3ple4: I don't know if it will work but have you tried using acrylic plate covers?
Yung ganito itsura...
^ But that's tempered glass, acrylic should look similar though.
For those who haven't had WeatherTech liners yet, Husky Liners are good alternative.
Advantage Husky: Covers more of the carpet including the carpet leading to the edge of the door sill (yong weathertech hindi);
cheaper than WeatherTech
Disadvantage Husky: WeatherTech liners are made of better materials and made to fit specific vehicles better; WeatherTech liners also retain their form longer than husky (as per reviews I read); no official distributor in Ph
I saw an ad from sulit Husky for Ford Explorer
share ko lang for those who hasn't bought WeatherTech yet, there is a private seller for Husky liners sa Sulit.com... search nyo lang
Cheaper sya and for the first row liners meron sya extra lip that covers the carpet at the edge of the door sill... Di ko lang sure about the quality compared to weathertech, tsaka parang mas makapal at mabigat sya.
