This piece of origami cost P318!!!

The mechanic dropped the used filter into the can before i could get i. I'll take a shot of the used filter during my next service stop.
so boss parang refill lang sya?

^ Yep. And Toyota uses a special tool to remove the canister so when you have service done elsewhere, the mechanic should know how to properly unscrew it.

I hope better aftermarket elements will become available just as well. The o-ring (seen next to the filter) is also replaced every oil change.

that kinda sucks. limits you from using other after market filters like baldwin or FG.
You are stuck with Toyota OEM for now I guess till there are after market options.

Hello again folks, * dvldoc, earlier in this thread you mentioned that not all oem filters are crappy. How do mazda oil filters compare to fleetguard or baldwin's?

they are fine for standard oil change intervals, most oem filters will not be any better than 40 to 30 microns absolutE (98.6%) they will also hold about 3 times less dirt than a fleet service filter.

This is a good layman's term explanation on OEM vs. fleet filters.

Nakakainis na nga eh, oh well. Sana naman before end of the year may dumating na. Pag may dumating, sana we can limit ourselves to 2 per item para naman yung ibang gusto, makakuha din. I guess 2 filters will last us 20K which is enough for 1 year worth of travel.

You said that wix oil filters are good. Are there any problems with the quality of wix oil filters produced here? I'm just curious because almost everyone here are looking for baldwin. I haven't read the whole thread yet but our car is due for change oil next week so I need some info. My place is too far from volmax but if the oil filter of baldwin has a significant advantage over the wix filter then I'll opt for the baldwin. I'm a bit wary of the fleetguard sold here right now so that's out of the question.

And one more thing, our car usually takes a year to get to only 4-5k km - short trips mostly. So, are mineral oil(mobil) + baldwin/wix filter good for a year/5,000km or do I really need to get the mobil1 fully synthetic. How about semi-synthetic?

    Thanks in advance doc.

Wix is what u would call a heavy duty filter, they are very well constucted. there should not be any produced here, sold here yes but made.

Give me a PM i bet i have your filter. * * 5000k Intervals a good mineral oil or semi synthetic is fine.

hey doc, whats the next best filter for the 4d56 engines (pajero) besides the BD28 or LF3564? Which you currently on stock. my friends inquiring about the LF3564 found it on the steep side. hehehe!

    thanks in advance.

    dvldoc,

i tried looking online for a bypass system for the M26x1.5 thread size, it seems that the manufacturers do not make a kit of this size.
