April 16th, 2013 08:31 AM #1371Hi fellow tsikoteers, Tanong Lang PO. Does anyone know the difference between ford ranger and mazda bt 50? Kasi oil change ng ford ranger every 5k and mazda bt50 is every 10k. What is the difference why mazda is every 10k? Mazda uses mineral oil.

Yes. Heavy duty oil filters has 4 times dirt holding capacity than regular over the counter filters. A regular filter will only last for 5,000 KM at the most, unlike its heavy duty counterpart which is at 10,000KM. Instead of 2 oil change service, once lang with HDOF. 7 liters of oil (rough estimate on a diesel rig) versus 14 liters. thats money, time and effort saved going to the dealership. not to mention its environmental benefits.
Difference with oil filter used.
As per J's filter website:
Ford Ranger
JS Filters :: Application Cross Reference and Image for JS : Oil (Spin-on) : C101J
04.02~01.04 2.5L MD25 Engine C101J - oil filter
07.00~04.02 2.5L MD25TI Engine C101J - oil filter
Mada BT-50
JS Filters :: Application Cross Reference and Image for JS : Oil (Spin-on) : C115J
01.07~ 2.5L C115J
Although may entry din yung Ranger under the C115J, this is the confusing part.
03.07~ 2000 Truck C115J
10.99~04.02 2500 MD25NA Truck C115J
10.99~06.00 2500 MD25TI Truck C115J
they are of different thread. 3/4 16 and m24x1.5. Checking the part number of the actual filter installed on each vehicle will help us further determine what to use on it. we can easily cross reference the part number. This way we can be more precise with what filter to use.
When it comes to their oil change interval, I'm speculating its a marketing gig. I've noticed in many threads that Ford seems to have a stiff price tag when it comes to their PMS cost. Both can actually go 10,000 KM as long as filters used on both are heavy duty. Motorcraft is the OEM filter used for the Ford, for the Mazda, am not sure.

Thanks. I'll be using it, box is still in good condition indicating that walang masyadong moisture dun sa cabinet kung saan naka store ung filter. Sealed ung bottom part nung filter, when I checked the gasket, it's still good.
