kung sa reliability depende sa maintenance , pero mas marami kasi na prone masira sa diesel especially yung mga modern kamuka ng turbo at injectors hindi katulad sa gas engine , n.a type lang halos lahat :-)

November 23rd, 2014 08:58 PM #12there is this belief that diesels cost more to maintain..
well, it is true that diesel engines do require more oil in oil change, and require more oil changes.
but diesel engines do not have sparking plugs, distributors, hi tension cables, nor contact points (older gas engines.. heh heh).
then there are those who warn that should the fuel delivery system malfunction, the repair costs are quite high..
but i own a diesel (o sige, 2 diesels now, 1 more that i sold after 8 years, 8 years ago).. and after almost 100K km per vehicle, the fuel delivery system failure has yet to materialize. i have talked to some diesel owners who have logged quite a number of km more than i have, and they have not experienced it, either..
so i guess TS will have to wait some time more, so's i can appraise him of my fixing costs when it does happen..
but this is just me.. perhaps there are some persons out there who have more experience..
but whatever it is, think... is this the norm, or is this the exception?
will i recommend diesel? yes.... but buyer must make his own computations, to see which gets him ahead..
-annual maintenance cost, annual fuel cost, purchase price, insurance, LTO, etc.
i'm sorry but i don't do this to mine.
so why did i buy a diesel? dahil baha-in samen.. heh heh.Last edited by dr. d; November 23rd, 2014 at 09:04 PM.

Rough computations lang bro ha, comparing a Mirage GLS CVT vs an Accent E CRDi.
Assuming you'll keep both cars for 5 years:
Mirage GLS
SRP: 673k
Fuel: 288k (12 km/L at 15000 km per year)
Maintenance: 60k (4k per PMS every 5000 km thrice a year)
Total Cost: 1.021M
Accent CRDi
SRP: 858k
Fuel: 198k (14 km/L at 15000 km per year)
Maintenance: 90k (6k per PMS)
Total Cost: 1.146M
Mas mahal pa rin yung Accent kasi di mo mababawi yung higher SRP even with the more efficient engine and lower diesel cost. Kailangan mabenta mo ng 120k higher yung Accent sa Mirage to break even.

November 24th, 2014 01:30 PM #14Bro dapat ata same model? Accent gas and diesel. O kaya innova gas and diesel. Kasi talagang mas mura ang mirage kaysa sa accent gas

Pag same model mahahabol naman talaga within 5 years as long as mataas mileage. But yun nga, pag gas mas marami options. And mas maganda for me Mirage GLS kaysa gas Accent.

November 24th, 2014 03:10 PM #16I own a gas innova and sometimes drive a diesel innova. Mas pagod ako sa byahe sa diesel mainly due to the vibration and noise of the diesel engine. Both innovas almost the same in age and mileage.

November 24th, 2014 03:16 PM #17Diesel pulls more than the gas, but when raced, almost the same lang ang acceleration. Diesel power starts to strain only from 130kph up to the max of 160kph while gas goes straight to 180kph. The power of the vvti is mostly availanle from 3000rpm up. While the diesel will pull strongly at idle.

IMHO.
Pareho lang for both. In terms of maintenance, efficiency, ek-ek-chuva.
I'm pretty sure some of you guys here would balk at my conclusions.
I have both diesel and petrol cars, old and young timers alike.

Vios E AT mas mahal ng 100k and less efficient so definitely the Accent CRDi will be cheaper in 5 years if the mileage is high. If 10k km lang per year I think the Vios will still be cheaper, katamad icompute hehe.
With the Accent diesel though dapat hindi masira turbo or else ang laking talo na nun kagad. With a Vios or any basic gas engine car, wala namang bumibigay na ganun kamahal within 5 years.
