    Question, if company like Geely buys a brand like volvo does it necessarily mean mala volvo na rin ang design at level of tech and quality ng Geely products? I've seen reviews of this cars since it was launched a few days ago saying 90% daw ng makina ay mala volvo, design and workmanship ng interiors are heavily inspired by volvo etc etc.

    They are buying the company together with all its R&D, manufacturing capability, and all the other things in the company. Unless of course, they decided to change things.

    So pwede na sabihin for the small money you pay, you're getting a "volvo" too.

    tech means yes like mg with its rx5 and zs- interiors even the panoramic moonroof dials are basically the same with vw tiguan.

    don't get me wrong.

    volvo is still swedish for it is only funded by china but all its offices and factories stays vs. mg which was full bought by china, and only built a new office in uk that employs only 10 people just for the sake of establishing an office there.

    yes buying a geely means you got a little bit of volvo tech inside of it no matter the crappy name of the car (i do not find geely a crapy name vs. foton and haima), but it is still not volvo.

    Ford used dry type DCT for low torque application like those used on small vehicles with small displacement gas engines. It did use wet type DCT on the older Focus turbo diesel.


    DCT is not bad but their reliability is more related to the manufacturers who use it. BMW, Mercedes, VW, and some others do use DCT for a big number of models they sell on the market.

    Well, with this, mas totoo na yung sinasabi ng Geely Sales rep that you are "mechanically" buying a Volvo. Hehe!

    Since they are spinning off the engine building business and merging Volvo and Geely's engine building team into a new entity.

    The excerpt I've read regarding Coolray's transmission

    Here's the verdict fron Niky Tamayo for his TopgearPH review:

    "There are crossovers that provide the same level of power, kit, and refinement as the Coolray—only they tend to cost over twice as much. What you get here is premium content with a mass-market price tag. Even the base Comfort variant, at under P1 million, features the same 10-inch infotainment package and 174hp engine. And while it does have some drawbacks, that value for money—plus a 150,000km/five- year warranty backed by an experienced distribution group—makes it seem like a winner. It may be a little late to the game, with several other turbocharged Chinese crossovers already on the market, but there’s nothing else offering this much kit and luxury at this price level. Where the lovable Panda couldn’t charm its way into our crowded market, the ’Ray may just have the sting to knock the competition dead."

    ever since the deadly air pollution happened in china.. majority stopped developing diesels..

    only a handful have diesel powertrains. and they're targetting Philippine and Australian markets(markets where they primarily import diesel pickup trucks)

    Reviews have so far been excellent, not just "puwede na" but really flattering ones too. Consensus seems to be this car punches way above its price point.
