    Hi Kelanen,

Sorry I haven't fully tested yet yung manual shifters nya. Try ko sa weekend since we're planning to go somewhere South.

at mukhang lahat sila mas mabilis ang acceleration :-)
May hill hold assist din c Sonic. "Hill start assist" tawag sa manual. the brakes remain applied for approx 2 secs after releasing it and depressing the accelerator pedal. Haven't tested it yet though.

Though the Sonic variant being reviewed in the links may not be the exact variant dito sa pinas, pero at least it give us more or less an idea on how it stands against its counterparts.

Anyways, whatever there is or isn't in sonic, happy na ko dito. dapat lng, nabili na namin e. Hehe! pero so far, talagang enjoy kmi dito. Hope you'll eventually buy what you really want. Good luck!

Its hard to use those American tests as a basis for comparison since the USDM Sonics have much more powerful engines to pull its heavy weight (base USDM model has a 135hp 1.8L engine, optional engine is a 138hp 1.4 turbo), in the Philippines, the Sonic is only available with a 99hp 1.4 liter engine.

On the bright side, the good points of the car are the practical ones...

    Good
    Smooth ride
    Excellent economy
    Roomy interior
    Fine value for money

    Bad
    Unimpressive interior plastics
    Relatively heavy
    A touch dull to drive

Thanks AG4! Didn't know that it's still called Aveo in other parts of the world.

Anyway, to those who have yet to decide, here are some more reviews I have found in the net; this time referring to the variant we have here in the Philippines:

At the end, the most important thing to do before one buys a car is to test drive the potential choices back-to-back.

Is it true that chevrolet will release a new Sonic by midyear? I read that it would have a 1.6L engine and 115hp.

Namention sa special issue ng topgear though di nakalagay kung both sedan and hatchback. Ang taas din ng estimated price.

Willing to wait ka ba? Kung nasa 850 lang sana yung sedan at sure na by mid year ok idelay ang purchase. Hope we get confirmation soon to help sa decision though I doubt it coz baka mahirapan sila ibenta ang current models.

    Just sharing....

Went to Nuvali last weekend with our a/t Sonic and I confirm na sobrang sarap nyang dalhin sa long drives. Swabeng swabeng swabe. Hehehe!
You would hardly notice yung pag shift nya to higher gears. Hindi matagtag at ang tahimik sa loob. Drove it to 80kph and still you can hear the FM radio clearly. Also, whenever mapadaan kmi sa daan na may madaming maliliit na humps (sorry don't know what it's called but i heard pampagising daw yun. Parang inaabsorb sya (vibration and sound) ng some parts of the car. don't know where.

    To kelanen,
Tinry ko na yung manual mode nya. Ok naman sya pero parang mas smooth pa rin pag automatic (i.e., in Drive mode). I guess partly because d ako sanay mag manual mode. Ginagamit ko lng kasi to usually sa mga masyadong matarik na na daan (uphill and downhill).

Yes sir nakapag overtake naman ako. just made sure d ako lalagpas ng 80kph.

Mukhang designed sya to prevent sudden acceleration.

I think Top Gear PH's estimate of P888K for the 1.6 (assuming it does arrive here) is just right since the current Sonic 1.4 AT hatch is priced at P838K.

Chevy north edsa is giving 87k discount until the end of march ata. Provided that you only pay 80k for downpayment. Hehe.
