I'm thinking this will solve the dilemma of the midsize SUVs currently in the market as it combines the good looks (Fortuner), better trim (Montero Sport) and a fast engine (Everest).

The Chevrolet Captiva is already a proper rival for the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Toyota Fortuner, Montero Sport, and the Ford Everest, even though it wasn't really a hit. The Philippines doesn't need the 2013 TrailBlazer because that might affect it. Even if you said that they're on a different category, it wasn't worth it.

You said it yourself. The Captiva was not and is still not a hit. It did not lack in trying to be one though.
It is for this reason that Chevrolet will be bringing this in. Market reception is better than that of the Captiva's. Cannibalism on the Captiva's market share is inevitable given that this is a proper 7 seater with better amenities.

It's good though that corporations (more often than note) decide on the feasibility with the majority rather than the minority. I cannot say if the Philippines doesn't need this or not - a lot could also say that the country doesn't need the Captiva anymore. What I can say, though, is that Chevrolet needs this to boost their overall sales, potentially surpassing that of the Captiva's.

Dapat yung US-made Equinox na lang ang nilabas dito dati rather than the Asian brother Captiva. I think the facelifted Captiva looks better and Chevy Phil can do away with the 7-seater and just sell the 5-seater variant. Hence compete against the likes of the Tucson, Sportage, Escape, CRV and let the Trailblazer compete against the Fortuner, Montero, etc.

Based on the numerous websites I've been to regarding the new Trailblazer, it is the only SUV in its category that has an independent 5-link rear suspension. I'm pretty sure this will become a hit here in the Philippines once it goes on sale, but that is if it's coupled with attractive prices, and coupled with Chevy Philippines' 5 years warranty. Also to mention if it beats the interior features (DVD/GPS LCD HU) of the Montero Sport. Calling the attention of Winterpine!

2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer - ZerCustoms

The production version of the Chevrolet Trailblazer (2013) had its world debut today, a year after its concept's premiere. Compared to it, the 2013 Trailblazer has a new front apron with no LED lights, more rugged rims and tires, and a new rear bumper, without the cool exhaust pipes seen on the concept. Inside, the new Chevy Trailblazer (2013) comes with two rows of rear seats, which can be folded to form a flat loading space.

Chevrolet is going to offer the new Trailblazer (2013) with a choice between two turbodiesel engines: a 2.5-liter with 150 hp (110 kW) and 258 lb.-ft. of torque (350 Nm), and a 2.8-liter with 180 hp (132 kW) and 346 lb.-ft. of torque (470 Nm). There will be two transmission options available - a 6-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual.

In terms of safety, Chevy's 2013 Trailblazer has everything you'll ever need. Apart from the usual ESC, ABS with EBD, and traction control, the 2013 Trailblazer also comes with Panic Brake Assist, Engine Drag Control and Hill Descent Control. The 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer also comes with an industry first - the Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning - which is the first use of Rear Drive Brake in the market.
