saw the cruze at sm bacoor last wednesday and i should say it's quite a looker (or bago lang kasi sa paningin). my real concern is really the fuel consumption and maintenance cost. the 1.8L 'ecotec' engine should stand up to it's label and really be eco-friendly. but knowing that this is an american car, i really really doubt it could match the fuel efficiency of japanese petrol cars in the same class. furthermore, with maintenance issues (cost, parts availability, paucity of service centers), this car may really struggle to gain significant market share.
I wished they launched the cruze here in the philippines with already the 1.4L turbo engine. That would really draw in the car buyers. I've read that the turbo engine would average about 40mpg, or about 17km/L.
personal disclosure: satisfied 10th gen altis owner![]()
I'm close to buying the LS/AT model but am hesitant due to brand name and after sales service of Chevrolet.
Also, wala mga freebies sa casa.
Hmm... no doubt that Chevy PH's lineup are lookers (except for the Spark, well for gas-eco fans perhaps). Maganda financing, purchasing, basta pre-sales maganda. Pag nabili mo na, yun nga lang - goodluck.
And nope, this ain't just a stigma of being a previous Optra owner - this is fact. Maintenance-wise parang onti na lang pang-BMW na eh. This isn't just for the Optra btw, look at the other line-ups and listen to the complaints.
Marami ngang bumibili ng Chevy pero marami ring nagbebenta after madala. If Chevy PH wants to have patrons and keep their existing clients, they might as well consider on significantly reducing their vehicle's maintenance costs.
DISCLAIMER: Satisfied Nissan Sentra, Mitsu Lancer, and Isuzu Sportivo owner here. Hassle-free ownership and average FC.Pag magawa ng Chevy PH yan aba considering 6-speed ang Cruze why not. How I wish though. lol
Value for money is found * the 1.8 LS variant. The top-of-the-line LT is priced close to some other 2.0 liter cars out there (1 million pesos and above). The LS has the same engine, same transmission (A/T), has airbags, ABS, EBD and even traction and stability control. At a lower price (140k-190k pesos difference) than the LT variant.
thinking out loud...the cruze's taillights and steering wheel looks very similar to the Civic FD.... hehe
a good review of the Cruze (Holden Cruze in Australia) and the Focus diesel... gives us an idea of the performance of the Cruze' 2.0 diesel version vs the Focus

Autocar UK tested the 1.8LT variant. It did quite favorably, actually.

- 1.8 engine is lacklustre
I saw one Cruze in Eastwood yesterday in color white! Very nice car.. Di ko nakita kung 1.8LT yun kasi di ko inakalang Cruze na pala yung car na yun hehe. Pero it has 4 back-up sensors. CRUZE lang ang nakalagay sa plate niya
mga sir,any idea how's the sales going on with the new CRUZE?..TIA
Seems like none among the members got one nor new owners' thread for this car..![]()
Stigma + cost of ownership.
Sooner or later, things will turn around.
At first, only the daring bought the Mazda 3 anyway. But 6 years on, maganda parin yung bili nila
Let's hope the Cruze and Chevy in particular will shape up.
As already mentioned, good competition = more features and lower price on our cars.
nakita ko na ito sa personal. at nakita ko na mga features nito.
one word..
Impressive!![]()
