Thats the current market perception. You have to at least drive these cars and you'll be surprised that it is way more less than you've mentioned.

I think I just saw from the news that a Benni Chana had overshoots in the center island along commonwealth.

    Hardly the car's fault.

Lots of other vehicles get into accidents along Commonwealth on a semi-regular basis anyway.

Oh, and FYI, the car wasn't a Chana Benni. It was a Chevrolet Spark.

accidents happen depends on driver's habit, on this case lasing ata cause several alcoholic beverages where found. Anyway, on the topic, Benni is a 1.3 84 hp car while qq3's top of the line is its .8 semi auto 52 hp (don't know why it's expensive than the 1.1 68 hp) and price difference is more or less 50k. so clearly benni has the edge, IMHO. Whether I would buy a china car or not really depends on the auto's services. If it provides better services than the other automakers in our place then the badge really does not matter to me.

thanks peeps for the links you have provided re 1.3 chana engine. convinced na ako to purchase the chana 1.3 multi carry closed van for my business. medyo mahal kasi ang L300. also, diesel prices have gone up. halos pareho na ng gas. according to a recent review sa phil star, chana can get up to 16 km/liter(combined city/highway driving). here are some pics.

    dash

    fedex delivery van

    sideview

    refrigerated van

papalitan ko na yung reconditioned 3 cylinder suzuki FB type ko. bought it 4 years ago. fyi, fedex bought some units for their fleet. na test na nila, ok naman daw. also, it's bigger than the suzuki multicabs kaya excited nga ako i-drive. di ko muna gagamitin gas fortuner ko, hehe.

i'm optimistic naman na walang magiging problema. i'll keep you guys posted once i get the unit this week. thanks.

    Hi Beebs!

    Congrats on your new ride!!

Btw all Chana vehicles introduced here have the same 1.3cc Suzuki engines. I don't know lang kung pareho ang gearing (gear ratios) specially for mini-vans like yours.

    Balitaan mo kami ha.

may bagong model daw ang chana, called "z-shine". di ko alam kung makakadating yan dito. looks quite palatable. powered by a 1.6L or 2.0L engine. i wonder kung ano katapat nito sa chery, siguro yung eastar or yung a5.

front bumpers reminiscent of the new aveo. looks modern.

wow. may back up sensors ah. quite sleek here.

interior looks kinda plush with leather (ba talaga?) appointments, dark gray and beige color scheme. pero yung speakers really look cheap, they should have placed something more... acceptable.

with fairness to chana, nakakagawa naman pala sila ng car na mas modern or class (looking) pa sa benni interior-wise, nice exterior. but best to see the actual car.

ayus ito ah...the interior is quite respectable and decent!

    chana vs cherry?

siguro ahead dapat sa labanan ang chana since sabi dati sa nabasa ko (not sure kung TG yun) was mas earlier sa taon ang chana nagbebenta ng cars kesa sa cherry.

price, cherry lamang i think kasi ang huli kong naaalala sa price ng benni was 4xx yata. 1.3 vs .8 engine

aku po, i think ahead man ang chana sa pagbebeta ng sasakyan sa chery, still they are both china made. matira matibay nlng po sa kanila.

to be realistic...who knows what these brands would be 10-20 years from now...

Pay no attention to pitbullz's posts. They make as much sense as his sig, and his faculty to spell correctly...

Anyway, just to state the obvious. I wouldn't count on Chery to stay in the Philippines longer than next year. Their dealers are pulling out. Their vehicles aren't selling. And honestly, it's difficult to be optimistic about Chery's sales figures since the brand doesn't sell commercial vehicles in the country.

Great Wall, on the other hand, can do very well in the country if it can bring down the price of its vehicles.

Chana has a bright future, too, especially if the Benni and its line of minivans is able to successfully penetrate the local market. Sure, the brand has been here for about a year now, but to this day, it hasn't really made much dent in the market, much less on the Filipino car buyer's psyche.

    'Yun lang po. Bow.
