if you happen to notice, they did it outside metro manila coz more people here are aware of that scheme...

Aman Futures founder arrested in Malaysia

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE 3) - Manuel Amalilio, founder and owner of Aman Futures Group Philippines Inc., has been arrested in Malaysia, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said Wednesday.

De Lima said Malaysian authorities arrested Amalilio in Kota Kinabalu for carrying a fake passport and ID. She said Philippine authorities will fly to Kota Kinabalu later tonight to work on Amalilio's deportation.

Amalilio is wanted for supposedly duping thousands of Filipinos in a P12 billion Ponzi scheme.

Malacañang said that if reports are true, the arrest of Amalilio will bring justice to the victims of the Aman Futures scam.

The Palace hopes that Amalilio will be brought back to the country to face the charges filed against him.

"If it's true that he has been arrested, it will bring justice to those whom he has defrauded and we hope that he can brought to our shores," presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told reporters.

The Pagadian City regional trial court earlier ordered the arrest of officers of Aman Futures Group Philippines, Inc. for the non-bailable offense of syndicated estafa. With reports by Noel Alamar, radio DZMM; Ina Reformina and Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News

Ex-Pagadian City Mayor, wife arrested for estafa

MANILA, Philippines–The National Bureau of Investigation has arrested Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co and his wife Priscilla Ann in Serendra, Taguig.
Both are facing syndicated estafa case in connection with the multi-billion Ponzi scheme of Aman Futures.
“The Co spouses were arrested yesterday, Dec. 14 at 5:09 p.m. at Ashton 2 Serendra, Taguig City,” Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said in a text message Sunday.
She said the NBI received validated information that the couple is residing in a plush condominium unit in Taguig.
“Acting as buyers to gain access in the Serendra Towers, the NBI joint team closely monitored the couple that led to their arrest. They were caught while on board a vehicle,” De Lima said.
The two are now at the NBI detention facility.
The Iligan Regional Trial Court Branch 1 on April ordered the arrest of Co, his wife and several others. The case stemmed from the complaint of Julius Labunog, an Aman Futures investor, who claimed that his group was duped by Co and the firm’s officers for a combined amount of P29.63 million.
Aman Futures is implicated in a P12-billion pyramiding scam dubbed as the biggest Ponzi scheme to date in the country.
