Get the basic Code Alarm system. Model CA-100. P4,000 at Winterpine.

Has all the basics...active / passive arming with door locking both user-selectable, on-the-fly passive arming in silent places, plus an anti-carjacking feature ala Lo-Jack.

Update ko lang sirs. I bought the Autopage RF-315 yesterday. Tiwala naman ako sa nag-install since he's the same guy who installed my Krypton alarm three years ago. After some haggling, the shop sold me the car alarm at P3,800 (with free installation).

So far, okay naman siya (para lang yung old Krypton jo but with smaller and thinnier remote). But the installer did not activate the ignition kill feature, saying such is not advisable for automatic transmissions like my car.

I'll keep you updated kung may mapansin akong problem. Thanks!

Parang wala namang kinalaman sa transmission yung iginition kill. It's just a relay that does not allow electricity to flow to the starter or fuel pump. Yung Picanto a/t pinalagyan ko nun. Same procedure din as dun sa pagkabit sa Vitara m/t kahit magkaiba pa brand ng alarm (Police vs. Venom).

I'm also still wondering about that... Yung explanation kasi nung installer medyo technical for someone like me na bago pa lang humawak ng A/T. And since nagmamadali ako that time, I decided to just let him activate Autopage's basic features.

One of this days I'll try to confirm this with other installers. By the way sir, if you could also help me about this, I would appreciate it. So far I'm content with my new car alarm. Thanks again.

I do not want to speculate about your installer. But the reason some shops do not install the iginition kill is so they can keep the relay and relay socket to themselves (para mabenta or magamit sa ibang projects).

Dun sa nagkabit ng alarm ko 'by request' ang ignition kill. Free kung irequest mo. Kung hindi, hindi din ibibigay yung relay at socket sa iyo.

I think you're right. Wala siyang binalik na relay or socket sa akin. I may vouch for the installer's ability but I certainly could not ascertain his honesty and fairness towards his customers. Anyway, charge to experience na lang. Next time di na ako masyado mauutakan. Thanks.

Mga sirs, among the three shops sino po dito ang mas reliable/mas expert magkabit ng alarm based on your own experience: Winterpine, Goldrich, or sa Araneta Car Accessories??? Mas ok po ba ang Autopage alarm vs. Viper/Cobra/Alien??? T H A N K S.

Ibang level na ang Autopage at Viper. If you can afford them, go for it.

But the Taiwan alarms, Police/Venom/Cobra/Predator works well enough.

Sa ACE ko pa lang na-try. Binantayan ko every step of the way. Tama naman lahat ng ginawa.

Yun nga lang, you have to request for ignition kill (free of charge naman ito). If not, they will not install the ignition kill.

    Otep,

Just to clarify, is the "ignition kill" feature the one preventing anyone from starting the car while the alarm is armed? So the effect is when you turn the switch, nothing happens, as if the battery is dead?

That depends. On the MB100, the engine will crank but it will not start. On the Picanto and Vitara, there is no crank at all.

In both situations, the alarm will also trigger.

Ah I see. Well, either way you still won't get to start the car.

I haven't actually on purpose tried stress-testing that feature before (by opening the door with the key and trying to start the engine while the alarm sounded). But there was one time I panicked for a second. That was when I was seated on the passenger's side and I locked myself in, arming the alarm in the process, while I was reading something. Then when I felt warm, I proceeded to start the engine. Ayaw! Wala man lang redondo. Parang patay na yung battery. Well, siguro lang naman. Naka-arm nga pala yung alarm.

So this was proof that the ignition kill switch was working while the alarm was armed. (This was also proof ng katalinuhan ko. Wahaha! )

I would prefer that the ignition cut off be put on the fuel pump instead of the starter. That's how they did it on the W123 Mercedes on its first alarm system (back in '96, I think). That way it will also work as an anti-carjacking feature.

What happened was the driver accidentally hit the arm button while we were in traffic. After a few seconds, the engine died and the alarm triggered.

But if the technician doing the install does not know how to install that way, ayoko na pilitin.

Pwede nga naman, but then most car remotes nowadays are useless once the key is in and turned to accessories. Or is that just the way Toyota wired their alarms?

Sir, diesel po yung W123 namin (300D siya).

Sa Jaffas Banawe po kinabit yung system na iyon. Jaffas is Banawe near corner Mayon.

Winterpine is along Banawe. Near Nacional and Arlington but on the opposite side.
