Wow! Is this the TDCi already? Matic or manual? How's the maintenance cost through the years? Any increase in fuel consumption from high mileage?

^Wow sir, how do you do it? Our 2006 Tribute 2.3 has done all of 66400 kilometers and I've already replaced the engine supports, the timing belt (twice) the belt tensioner (thrice!) and had the radiator overhauled. Even then I still hear squeaking every now and then. It drinks gas like a V6 (4km/L city!) and I could feel water drops from the A-pillars during heavy rain (perhaps because it has a sunroof?)

Because highways in the US are much more forgiving than our urban traffic hells?

Traffic hells indeed. Such a big difference when it comes to vehicle longevity. His mileage is around four times as much as mine!

Highways in the US are in generally good shape.

But, my Sonata has also been driven through some extremes:

Sustained speeds of 75-80 mph (121-129 kph) for hours at a time

Repeated coast to coast drives, each at 6400 miles (10,300 km) round trip

    120 deg F (49 C) summers and -40 F (-40C) winters

It's been driven through a variety of regions, ranging from benign coastal regions to high-altitude mountains to searing deserts.

It's been through severe downpours and my favorite, snow.

    This was back in 2009:

When you have to drive, you have to drive. I normally kept the preventive maintenance schedule although there were some times it fell behind because the roads were blocked by snow.

Hyundai's Lambda V6 engine is a good engine. The 3.3 L in my Sonata is the first version of the Lambda with 235 hp. Newer versions of the same basic engine now have ~300 hp. You can say the Lambda engine in my 06 Sonata is over-engineered.

Suspension systems would be Hyundai's weakness. All my repairs/replacement costs have been been with the suspension. Granted, I hit a deer which caused severe damage and shortened the life of some components. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell if it's simple wear and tear or due to the deer collision.

49 degree summers? And I thought it was hot here. Never had any overheating issues? That was one of the Tribute's headaches. One that is not yet fully resolved.

All of our cars are regularly maintained. Can't understand why this one seems to be rather sickly. Our 2005 Accord is at 102tkms last I checked. Probably won't take long before it surpasses the 2001 Revo in mileage (128tkms). Oil changes done every 10tkms. Still running fine. Suspensions of both are really good. Haven't replaced anything in the Tribute's yet and have only replaced ball joints and tie rods in the Accord.

Overheating problems? Nope. The A/C sucks though. I think the A/C is fine if there is some humidity like during monsoon season. But, when it's super-hot and very dry, the freon doesn't seem to flow.
