Uh mukhang XV lang talaga gusto mo eh. Pretty pointless suggesting other cars, really.

If you feel that you'll be happier with an XV than a Lancer, go and line up for it already.

Personally I'd get the Lancer over the XV. I see no inconveniences in driving sedans to be honest, except that laging gumagasgas yung ilalim sa mga humps and ramps, but it's not visible anyway. Yung 400k, ang dami nang pwedeng gawin dun. Heck, you could even get a gen1 CR-V with that money.

kung yuppie na starting in professional life ako like you and has a budget of 1.3M for a car

    ang bibilhin ko is

    Accent M/T 608K
    Rio HB A/T 838K

though over the budget, eh dalawa naman tsikot mo, pareho na matipid, compact use it alternately say 3 days each on a 6 6 day a week work days.

you get to rough it up with an Accent with M/T, then you get a luxury feel with Rio with Start Engine technology, complete with good rims and sporty styling

papsy, double naman ang maintenance cost nya kasi 2 cars na. so instead of every 6 months siya pupunta sa casa magpa-pm, every 3 months na.

5000km or 6 months, whichever comes FIRST. kahit 1000km pa lang yan pag 6 months na pa-PM ka na or you lose the warranty. unless you don't give a hoot, like i don't after the 10k PM. so kung 2 ang cars nya in effect 4x a year sya magpa-PM instead of just 2. double ang cost.

Follow your heart. No matter what people say, it's what you want in the end that's important.

If you really want an XV, go for it. Mas mabuti na to stick to your guns kaysa magsisi sa huli.

Too many choices actually right now so stick what you want. If you really like the XV, go for it and get to know your car so in the future you will know what you want and don't want. There is no such thing as perfect car so there will always be things that you will like and don't like.

    OT:

Cars are meant to be used so kung hindi madalas gamitin, may chance na masira rin kahit hindi ginamit.

Sirs, I'm not a big time kind of guy. Just a regular employee earning maybe average salary? Single no passive income. Questions lang po, how much of your salary ba dapat ang napupunta sa installment? Is there any rule of thumb or maybe based on your exp? Takot lang ako baka maipit ako.. is 35-40% of your monthly salary too much?

depende naman yan sa income and expenses kasi. pag maliit ang income mas mababa ang percentage ng loans mo dapat. pag ang income mo millionessss kahit 50% pa yan kaya. ang dapat computin mo e kung magkano yung sosobra na mailalagay mo sa savings after mo bayaran lahat ng regular expe3nses mo (including paying for the car and insurance cost). kung zero balance ka after all expenses naku medyo mahirap yan, kung wala kang savings tapos may nangyari (knock on wood) e taghirap agad yan.

    sirs.. update update lang..

Now leanings towards Lancer EX GT-A 2.0 again.. napagisip lang, mejo mahirap maipit masyado sa monthly installment.
Buti na yung sure.. :D Kaya 1-1.3M talaga yung original budget eh.

remaining concerns before i hit the buy button:
    1) humps/ramps - sure ba na sasayad talaga always? too bad diamond motors valle verde don't allow test drives..

Typical humps and ramps is not an issue with the GTA.

I drive an Altis and it has roughly the same ground clearance as a Lancer EX.

If you brake right before a hump (which is what you should do anyway), hindi ka sasayad, except kung puno ka ng pasahero. And even then, only the ill-constructed humps will scrape your underside.

What you should be worrying about is parking. I have tried countless times to park without scraping the underside of my front bumper, and nagagawa ko lang 'to if I enter the slot almost sideways, in effect occupying 3 slots in the process before settling in to my chosen slot. Partida hindi pa gaanong mataas yung incline ng outdoor parking ng Shopwise Araneta where I always park.

Today's compacts have much less ground clearance than those in the 90s, but is that enough reason not to buy a Lancer EX? NO.

After all, no one's ever gonna see the scrapes. Sa ilalim lang talaga siya and the only way to know that they're there is if you actually run your hand through the bumper's underside and feel the roughness.

Sa akin kasi importante ang savings, 30-40% of my salary. I only spend what remains after saving. Not save what remains after I spend. Tsaka nanghihinayang kasi ako sa interest. Kaya ang ginawa ko, nag-ipon muna ako then I paid cash.

If that's the case, do you really need a 1M car? Take it with a grain of salt but I'm never a fan of installment plans unless they're 0% interest. It's either (A) if you have the cash, buy the car (B) if you don't have the cash, save enough to buy one.

Regardless to say, having debts should bother you and it doesn't help statistically that a lot of Americans are under a huge pile of debt either. So I suggest the more financially-sound advice: Buy a cheaper car and save more. Every 200k saved is 200k to spend in a crisis............ or to put in our "courting budget" :naughty2:

If napapaisip ka na abot sa installment ng GT-A, forget it. Take a lower model and spend the rest for modifications instead.

35% of you salary is too much.
10% of your salary is healthy.
