^Isn't Centro the only manufacturer for the passenger cab of the i-van?

They usually make decent (better than Metro truck or Almazora) cargo shells for vans.

But it would seem that they didn't do a good job with this one. Poor instructions and designing on Isuzu's part?

This would mean that manufacturers and assemblers in the Philippines are well capable of making sliding doors: which have been around since the time of the VW Bus, by the way.

Even L300 Versa Van have sliding doors.

It could be cost cutting measures since a sliding door involves engineering and special parts. And they (isuzu and centro) could have easily copied it through reverse engineering from so many sources anyway.

Drivers and passengers have different takes on this topic. The thread title appears to focus on the PASSENGER side so I'll be posting my comments as a passenger.

    - If we are talking about the Urvan, I would like the Estate model better than the shuttle or escapade since the aircon vents are properly distributed as opposed to the shuttles/escapades. I also like the individual reclining seats of the urvan estate (the escapade also has it excluding the last row).
    - I find the urvan shuttle really cramped and a solution for better aircon circulation is to install a yokohama blower at the middle part (which is also being done to the hiace commuter). Somehow, there was a point where I managed to sleep in a shuttle en route to Manila from Batangas.
    - As for the hiace commuter, it's even MORE cramped and the ride is way too harsh, especially if you're on the last row. I rode one from Manila to Baler, Aurora (as a passenger) thinking I'd be able to sleep but hell, I can't find a good position plus the added harsh, harsh ride. BAD experience!
    - I saw the I-van on display during the clark event and parang pinilit lang na gawing passenger van. The seats will give you a first impression of not being comfy at all plus the swinging passenger door for me is a big no-no! As far as its design, looks like it'll be one hell of a noisy ride (tried closing the swinging doors and HINDI MAGANDA ANG LAPAT). Checked the underside and it still kept the truck suspension. I won't even try riding in one.

If I had a choice as a passenger, I'd choose the urvan estate any time of the day. Kahit isama pa nila yung super grandia, the urvan estate wins for me.

Now if I were a driver and wouldn't care about how my passenger feels, I'd probably drive the hiace as it's responsive and frugal as far as diesel costs are concerned.

bgo aq mgcomment ulit, repeat ko lng ung side q d2 sa 2 na van sa topic.. ms bagay pang business ang urvan kc ms madami gmagamit nun... simple, mechanical engine less maintenance... on the other hand, hi-ace a little bit luxurious in design, has advantage on aircon, comfort.. i dont know sa speed....

actually pra sakin, tolerable naman ang tagtag ng isuzu since hi-lander pa.... khit truck based sya ok lng naman.. kung sa mga jeep nga nkktulog aq e d hamak ms mtagtag pa mga jip db? khit nmn mga hi ace at urvan, may tagtag din, di nga lng kcng lakas gaya ng isuzu.. e mggawa natin truck based yan.. and mjo mssugest lng natin sa I-VAN is sna gawing sliding door ung pinto kc hndi mkkpg park sa makipot na slot..at mjo taasan ung body ground clearance.... other than that ok na naman.. sa engine, wla na dpat pgusapan jan..d most reliable "old school" ika nga but supreme heavy duty.. they also got mala truck suspensions.. now with flexiride.. mjo dagdag comfort..

ung urvan nga pg 18 pax ung sakay nghihingalo na ung aircon eh...
