boss niky, as i've read on onther discussion thread "lynx parts & maintenance" you mentioned that ideal time to test drive used lynx during noontime and in traffic. if symptoms didnt occur CPS problem, does it mean that CPS issue already been addressed? or how would i know if CPS issue already been replaced/fixed by owner. syempre mostlikely (not all) seller attitude will hide problems for them to sell car in asap right? and what models in specific experience said issue?
Pasensya na type ko talaga lynx due to resale value + not common like other rides.

Hope you understand mga sirs/gurus concerns ko since now lang talaga ako bibili as in pera ko ng car. dati kasi nakikigamit lang and not concerns the aftersales/maintenance. so as much as possible, i want to hear experience that other lynx owner encountered para atleast hindi ako magsisi at the end.

Well, if you show awareness of this problem, they might admit it... but they might not.

If the problem does not occur, it's not an assurance that it won't... just that it's not a problem yet, or has been addressed. But in my experience, most electronics problems with cars really manifest when it's hottest inside the engine bay, and summer noontime in Metro traffic is as hot as it gets.

But, like I've said, it's a cheap fix. And if the problem does occur, then you can bargain a big chunk off the price with the necessity of fixing this as an excuse.

For more info on common (and uncommon) Lynx problems, drop by http://forum.fordclubph.com . Lots of Lynx onwers there.

I think the gen2 lynx (last one) has projector type headlights compared to the gen1. I just noticed this a while ago at the parking lot.

If its bet. a Ghia or GSI, I think you will find that their price difference would be very little. If all else is equal in other aspects, I think the Ghia is a better buy.

Bro, we have a Ford Lynx Ghia. So far so good, no problems. Yung Ghia mas complete ang accessories and we like the interior kasi parang halos leather from seats to the sides. And its fast too, though malakas lang sa gas. The ride is firm but not too harsh. Value for money sya.

boss CPY61, please clarify. you mean to say Ghia is mas malakas sa gas compared to other car brand with the same liter dispense or enginedisplacement?

used to have a 2001 lynx ghia, all i can say IMO, sobrang tibay. Didn't change the oils for 2 years. yes that was 2 years. Sorry, i know it was really very irresponsible for me to run it without any oil change...

di nasira ni isang beses. handling is ok, suspension is ok naman din, pero masikip lang. kaso ambagal, 150 lang yata top speed ko dun. only thing i miss there is the mechanical folding side mirrors. sold it na for 182k last year.

    Mileage: 54t km

Just wanna verify with you sirs if this model affected with Cam Position Sensor (CPS) issue.
Lynx/Ford Gurus/masters, with the specs mentioned above, would you think is reasonable enough assuming CPS issue has been addressed? if CPS still not replaced/addressed, how much will you buy/price the said car? To be honest, wala akong maraming alam sa car resale and especially on lynx but interested to buy lynx ghia.

it would be off by about a liter per km but on the average it's considerable for a 1600 car. my take it would go from 8-10 km/l based from everything i read and gauge from my ride.

for me thats already a good price. that's the first gen lynx if im correct. not sure how much would a cam position sensor would cost you today. just try to take it out for a spin first. give it a feel and how comfy you are on it. you can base your judgement there.

if its a good condition car then youre getting your moneys worth

check if it does have an airbag, abs, sunroof, etc. characteristics of the ghia

First generation Lynxes are the ones with the CPS problem... mga 1999-2001, I think... but the sensor was updated around 2003. I'm really not sure.

I think the Ghia and the GSi Lynx models have the same engine (displacement and features). But I find the engine a little bit brutish-which I don't normally mind because I am contented with its performance and power..

My lynx is current doing 8-10 km/l city driving and up to 12 km highway driving which I think is normal and almost at par with most 1600 rides today..

boss Josh, as far as know from sellers ads, there was an airbag, abs all powered but dont have sun/moonroof. Meron bang may moon/sunroof Lynx gen1?

master Niky; saan/kanino/magkano magpagawa (reliable) ng CPS? willing to have a lynx na kasi eh and i trust your inputs guys.

We'll ours is around 7-9 (mostly city driving) its almost as takaw as our CRV gen 1 that is a 2-liter. But, malakas yung power ng engine tried it in SLEX 100kmh no problem, its begging for more =)

It's mostly down to the transmissions. Medyo inefficient ang Mazda transmissions, especially the automatics.

Also, sensor condition affects fuel consumption. A dirty MAF sensor can give poor performance and consumption (same thing happens to 323s and Sentras).
