    Hi!

Newbie here and need expert opinion on which car would be highly recommended for a family car:
    2013 Honda CRV
2013 RAV4 (currently no units available yet)
    Forester 2.0XS
    Hyundai Tucson Limited edition

Your opinions will be highly appreciated.

Additional question for those who would suggest the Forester 2.0XS. Would you get the current model or is it better to wait for the new soon-to-be released 2014 model?

    Thanks in advance.

Any of the four options given are really good SUVs.

As for the TUCSON, the design is getting a bit too common with all Hyundai cars sporting the same body styling. BUT the interior is very nice.

Hehehe. Who cares about "common" when you've got dual sunroofs, soft leather and a kick-ass diesel?

    -

If you can catch the last of the Japanese CR-V AWDs, it's a great value, and pretty cheap with the discounts.

The Forester 2.0 is just underpowered and underspecced. I'd rather get a Subaru XV, which drives much nicer.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Forester 2.0 and the XV shares the same new FB20 engine. Only XV has CVT while the Forester has the 4 speed slushbox. Dan Neil did not give a favorable review of XV's CVT.

if u can wait for the new Forester with 2.0li DIT (direct injection turbo) with CVT, i'd say wait for that before making the final decision....

and since youre considering the Hyundai Tucson, why not look into Kia Sportage - its cousin...they are platform sharing anyway....
Same Engine/tranny/basic chassis. just different exterior styling....

Dan Neil is Dan Neil. :p

Some people like CVTs, some don't.

It might also depend on the calibration. We liked the calibration in local XVs, but the CVT in the Impreza wasn't all that great.

Then again... you could just get the manual.

For me i'd get the crv.

The tucson is a nice suv pero parang hindi sya yung timeless design, it looks old to me already. The tourquey engine is so good. The sunroofs are just so amazing.
The rav4 i think is too expensive already but i guess its necause of the top-notch quality. The looks is just alright but the outgoing model is nicer to look at.

Factory leather yan ng Limited Edition Tucson.

Honda CR-V gets my vote. Yung ThDM 2.0 A/T with leather seats and HID.

Actually kahapon may nakasalubong na akong Rav-4, from Toyota Bicutan, color white, not sure kung anong variant, basta ang ganda

I'd go for the RAV4 or the CRV 2.0 full spec. But you may also want to consider CX-5 and Xtrail CVT. Features and comfort na lng labanan ngayon. I don't bother with engine displacement much these days because of the traffic.

Yung entry level na RAV4 P1.357M. Yung pamangkin ko is planning to get a new SUV, they are choosing between the new RAV4, Forester and to a lesser extent the Tucson. Pero mukhang yung RAV4 ang kukunin nya. Ayaw kasi ng bro ko yung CRV.

Ang titignan mo na lng is features ng CRV 2.0S sa low and mid specced Rav 4 and sa Forester, CX-5, Xtrail, and Tucson. Sa price range I think yun CRV pinaka complete features.

Was also considering it. Price wise, all the above named cars are the within the range of 1.3M to 1.4M except for the RAV4 full option.

What I am after at is the overall features of the car, that when you buy the car you would say sulit na sulit. Hehehe

    Points to consider:
    1. Durability (to be used more than 5 yrs +)
    2. Fuel efficiency
    3. Reliability
    4. Easy driving/comfort
    5. Spacious
    6. Good looks/form/features
    7. Value for money

Negative comments I heard: (anybody is welcome to rebutt them, since I am no expert )
    1. Tucson - under chassis problems will crop up after 5 yrs.
    2. Fortuner - bumpy (matagtag)
    3. RAV4 - overpriced
    4. CRV 2.0S - guzzler
    5. CX-5 - brand & service reliabilty
    6. Forester 2.0XS - guzzler / too slow when overtaking / car frame thin (sounds like "lata" when you close the door

Thanks in advance for your comments.
