The Strada has noticeably higher numbers but we must also take note of the rpm at which it was achieved. The Hilux has ample power at all points of its rev range, while the Strada only picks up power once the turbo kicks in, and achieves peak output at a screaming 4000rpm. This would indicate that the Strada has a higher top speed, but the Hilux would do better in acceleration and hauling or towing, since theoretically speaking, with simple calculations, the Strada would only be making 151hp@3400rpm and 280Nm@1400rpm, but the numbers just climbed longer into the rev range.

pardon my ignorance... naka turbo din ba ang D4D on hilux g MT 4x4?

Strada vgt engine has 350Nm lang and not 400Nm. For our local market, they only brought in the 350Nm. They should have added 50Nm more for the AT models. Strada has the upperhand here, from features up to pricing. Durability.... I would say same lang for both trucks

Turbo with VNT for the 3.0 D4D. VNT and VGT are the same, different manufacter have different terms but it boils down to the same variable turbo.

    Verdict? Sa'yo dapat manggaling yan.

All we can give are facts about the cars, as well as our own personal reasons why we'd pick this car over the other.

The MT strada has 400Nm, the AT strada has the 350Nm.

Thanks for the clarification. Dapat yun AT models are getting the 400Nm insted of the MT to even out the power output of the two variants

^there's a reason why the A/T models has lower torque. there's a post here regarding about it. It's the Transmission slippage as far as i can remember.

On some Australian reviews of the mitsubishi triton, which is the equivalent of our philippine strada, Mitsu limited the torque of the AT variant to 350Nm to protect and improve the automatic transmission's reliability.
Anyway, as an all around pickup, I would choose the strada because of its comfortable ride and its big price advantage over the hilux. However, if it will be used primarily as a utility vehicle to be driven on very rough terrain, I would go with the hilux. It would be advisable though to wait a bit for the coming Ford Ranger and have a closer look.
