That is noted Sir Gecko Guy, I'll test drive an Avanza and perhaps Honda City na rin just for comparison .

Unless there are other 1.5 vehicle you might want to suggest , I'm still open for suggestion sirs but Avanza is on the top of my list now, dati eh Jazz and City, now Avanza sirs.

If you're going to be driving regularly with some friends/relatives on weekends, then Avanza should be for you...

I think Toyota A/Ts are still 4-speed(?),- so mas tipid sa gasolina ang 5 A/T ng City or Jazz.

What I am saying is that kung kayo lang dalawa ng (future) wife mo ang sakay almost all of the time and you are leaning towards fuel efficiency,- then go for City or Jazz.... Else,- go for the Avanza....

Sulit links don't show up, hindi kasi pwede na yung links na ganyan dito.

CVT is right, if most of the time you're alone or with a companion then the Jazz/Vios/City will be the most suited car for you. Among the three, the Vios would be the cheapest to run any manong are familiar with the 2NZ-FE. So repairs shouldn't be a problem.

Also, are you looking for a 2nd hand car only? Your 550k could be used as a downpayment for a brand new car. If you want something that will give you a low monthly amortization then there's the Vios 1.3J or the Vios 1.3E which has, as of the moment, 55k discount. Bare & dull, yes. But atleast what you're driving is a brand new car.

Sir CVT - I will be using the car 90% city driving with just me & one passenger sir, occasionally We'll be going out of town probably once every month or once every two months sir, actually Jazz or City was my first choice but Avanza is always on the back of my mind, that is why I'm having a hard time choosing and your recommendations sirs are really very helpfull, now I'm only down to City and Avanza.

KERSMcRae - thank you for the tip sir, every now and then I have been checking some websites such as Ayos dito, Sulit & OLX as well, but since I'll be buying a car this October pa sir baka bababa pa ang mga 2010 models kasi kinakabahan ako sa 2009 baka na ondoy sir.

renzo_d10 - ok sir ang Vios but ayaw ko sa Odometer niya sir, parang nakakalito sir or nakakapanibago lang and mas mataas sir ang re-sale value ng City or Jazz sir, ndi ko rin puwedeng tumaas pa limit ko kasi next year ikakasal ako that is my reason why I'm getting a car, so medyo tight ang budget sir

So it's down now to City and Avanza sirs.

Oh, okay. Congrats in advance sa wedding & new car!

Definitely mas gwapo yung City, it's okay for a small* quiet** family. Else, Avanza talaga bagsak mo.

*small -- Husband, Wife, Kid, Yaya.
**quiet -- If you're going out of town, kayo lang.

Renzo_d10 - Thank you so much sir, you're right, "small" would do, pero pag humiling si biyenan mag Vigan eh no choice ako kung hindi pumayag sir hahahahahahaha, as every man would do, this is where Avanza comes in, pero very seldom lang naman yang lambing nila sir

    btt:
most probably stick to 7-seater, 1.5L engine (& up) ka talaga TS kung madalas magsasakay ka ng marami, wag na ang sedan. Lalo na kung extended family kayo. That's what you really need.

and how often do you travel with your families? baka AUV na dapat ang babagay sayo instead of 7-seater MPV..

not sure pero sa tingin ko kaya rin ng city yun. ang route ko dati is valenzuela-makati everyday when going to work. maximum 1 passenger lang.

Sirs, as long as my car will have sufficient power to roam around with a good FC (Good FC meaning atleast 9km/l upwards) that would be it for me, of course good re-sale value and low maintenance cost .

treat avanza the same as the vios, pinagkaiba lang yung trunk :-) since city driving at madalas isa lang passenger i would suggest a 1.3 engine. FC on my 3 year old vios is 12km/l pure city driving. 1.5 engine is recommended sa car kung madalas marami ka sakay otherwise stick with 1.3. i'd recommend a diesel kaso medyo mas mataas talaga price nun. i'd go for city 2009 and up.

Siguro his question kung kaya umakyat ng Baguio is not literal. It's more like, kaya ba umakyat ng sasakyan papuntang Baguio with ease, on full load.

Honestly kasi, tingin ko ha.. the Avanza 1.3L will have a hard time going up Baguio kung punong puno talaga yung sasakyan. 9-10pax + baggage

i agree with you sir, kaya pero sobrang hirap ng avanza. just for comparison yung 1.3 vios with 3 passengers and baggage no problem sa baguio.

To TS: mas madali byaheng vigan kesa baguio, nakakapagod lang kasi malayo :-)

Sirs, I've heard that Mazda 2 has a good FC but compared to City E which one has better FC if they are both 1.5 A/T?.....also, which has a lesser maintenance cost?

    Please advise Car Gurus.

Both the Mazda 2 1.5R and the City 1.5E consume about 9 km/L in moderate to heavy city driving.

Noted sir, but in terms of maintenance cost, interior space and re-sale value which one is much better?

No idea about maintenance cost, since I don't own either.

The City will definitely have the advantage when it comes to interior space and resale value. The Mazda 2's main advantage is in its handling and driving dynamics. It's something you can't really quantify on paper, and is best appreciated with a test drive. In addition, I think the Mazda 2 1.5R hatch looks much better than the City 1.5E, especially with the latter's unbelievably tacky chrome grille.

Of course, if you're a sedate city-dweller who could care less about how a car handles at speed through corners, then baliwala sayo yung handling ng Mazda 2.

Thank you sir jut703 for the information, yeah, I would'nt care much on the handling or the fun aspect of driving cause for sure I will drive my car on and off from work, so for me it's just getting me from point to point, however I've seen Altis 1.6 A/T 2009 in the same price range as CityE 2009, would you recommend it? as far as I can see my only problem with this is the FC? is it correct sir?

Now I'm comparing a subcompact car (CityE) with a compact car (Altis 1.6 A/T), I think in all aspect the difference would be minimal but which would you sirs prefer and why? .... or my assumptions are wrong

The Altis is actually a rather fuel efficient compact, kahit 4AT lang 'to.

The advantage of the Altis? You get slightly better interior room, a more comfortable ride, better seats, and well, it's a compact (not a subcompact) so mas may "dating" 'to - for me at least.

Oh yeah, even if the City says that it has 120 hp and the Altis only has 109, the Altis feels more powerful in city driving because it's tuned to have better low-end grunt, unlike the City which needs to be revved high to feel the power surge.
