hello guys/gals... just wanna ask.. but first of all, i got this bmw 525i series

my question is..
are the low beamlights already in the projector type right? the high beam is ont he reflector? am i right?

now.. i bought a HID kit for the low beam light but unfortunately, i am not satisfied with the result.. its still the same from that halogen but, only changes the color.. so i think ill just adjust it.. to see if theres a difference.. can anyone teach me how?

are these headlights compatible to mine? im planning to buy one here in the Philippines if available..anyone knows? how much?

You could ask the retailer if that ligths fits on your bimmer if not you may have to look somewhere else. Set of projector lights(bolts on) comes with high and low beam including all hardware that needs to put in your bimmer. Also put in mind that do not buy a projector lens that more than 6,200 kilven, it may looks cool on the highway but less visibility for you as a driver.

Yes, you're right. Projectors for the low beams and reflectors for the high beams.

For starters, the E34's headlights are known to be not so good at throwing light on the road. A thin layer of dust diminishes the light output a lot, so be sure that they are clean inside and out.

What's the color temperature of the bulbs that you bought? Like what v6dreamer said, the higher ones (tint of blue to purple) doesn't really help the driver much in the way of road visibility.

Here's the "casa" codigo for beam adjustment. The vertical adjustment screw is at the front of the grill and the horizontal adjustment screw is a long bit of plastic inside the engine bay near the fender.

Yes, the adjustment parameters are for EU cars, but I don't see any reason for it not to be valid in the Philippines (for lack of local requirements).

i bought a 10oook hid kit..

i bought one same kit for my benz and it looks good on its projector and the throw of the light.. but on my bimmer a different story..:(

hmmmm.. one small dust could alter the throw o the light? i could have big problems in removing the headlight assembly and clean it..^^

The best HID color temp is 4300 Kelvin. As the figure goes higher, the lesser you will see on the road.

Colour Temp (K) Colour Description:
3000k: Yellow light (suitable for fog lights)
4300k: White light with tinges of yellow.
5000K: PURE WHITE LIGHT.
6000K: White light with tinges of blue
8000K: Distinct blue color light
10000K: Bluish-green light
12000K: Bluish-purplish light.

you may want to clean the fish eyes in the projector. that's what i do with mine to keep the light beam strong. since these cars are old, i make sure to have some time every quarter to dismantle and clean my lenses. be careful in cleaning the reflector part though. if you wipe it, more often the silver coating will come in contact with the cloth and make yours whitish. doesnt matter but it lessens the looks.

i thought the higher the K(kelvin) the brighter..hehehe.. so my dad decided to return the hid kit, and install only the higher wattage halogen bulb or customize bulb..

can i do it on my own in cleaning the headlight assembly? please teach me... gladly appreciated.. thanks..:bowako:

kelvin rating would be color based. higher kelvin = less yellow so it turns bluish, greenish, etc. lower kelvin = closer to yellow. i hope tama ako dito. please correct me if i'm wrong. i use hids on my bimmer as well. 4300k is what i use. no glare sa oncoming traffic. we have similar lights though different bodies. i have an e30. our lights have differences in the brackets. madali lang linisin ang headlights. i dont remember the step by step kasi nakasanayan ko na lang so parang automatic na kapag naglilinis ako. it's easy. the hardest part is taking off the assembly from the body but even that is easy. just follow the screws.

The higher the temperature (kelvin), the less usable light. So if you get 10 or 12, you will see a lot less than you see now. As a matter of fact, lights over a certain temperature are not legal here in North American roads which I believe same as in the Philippines. I don't know the exact figure handy, but I believe it is 8,000 K, and that is because they are not safe. there is a minimum amount of usable light necessary that the higher temperatures just do not put out.
5,000 k approx 3,200 lumens
6,000 k approx 2,800 lumens
8,000 k approx 2,550 lumens
10,000 k approx 2,200 lumens
12,000 k approx 2,100 lumens
If I am not mistaken, 2,200 lumens is the minimum to be street legal, so you get to the point where the upgrade bulb looks cool, but has less light. than a standard bulb.

Yes we have the same lights (fish eyed projector).. I hope i could find a way that i can let my pr0ject0r looks lighter on the r0ad.. Its very much imp0rtant.. But when i go on HIGH with just a hal0gen, there is no pr0blem with the r0ad, only for the inc0ming traffic..
