    hi guys,

    I've recently bought my '99 model starex svx (2nd hand), and it was very very good... well we used it for a month straight, i mean we use it everyday! sobrang happy and excited sa aming new van eh! well, after those happy moments comes the problem... after a week of not using my starex, all of a sudden ayaw ng gumana ng aircon, i mean the blowers were working pero walang lamig... so pina check up kagad namin sa kakilala ng driver ko, sabi ko sa kanila paki cleaning at freon reload tapos check na din nila kung may leak.. well unfortunately may leak nga sa evaporator (backside) so sabi nila kailangan daw i replace immediately, well tinanong ko kung magkano yung price and guess what? sabi ng may ari 11,000 pesos daw original evaporator ng starex??!?! oh my god! grabe, nd ko akalain na ganun pala kamahal un! eh ung cleaning and freon is 2,800 pesos na so sabi ko wag na munang palitan kasi kulang budget ko pero dahil sa kakilala nga ng driver ko, they insist na palitan ko at ibalance na lang daw ung kulang, so pumayag na din ako kasi mahal ko na tong van ko eh, well after 5 long hours of installation, finally tapos na, abah pagkatingin ko sa resibo ko eh 28,000 pala ang babayaran ko! I was so shocked kasi para na kong nagpalit ng bagong compressor! at ang pinalitan lang naman nila eh yung evaporator and ung expansion bulb! tapos ngayon hindi naman pantay ang lamig, mas colder sa front kesa sa back na ginawa nila, wala pa sa kalahati yung lamig! sabi nga nila pag local daw yung kinabit na evaporator hindi daw talaga papantay ang lamig? and i asked my friends about the price and they said na nagre range lang daw ung brand new and original evaporator within 5 to 8k! ano kaya dapat kong gawin guys? please help me out here! bakit kaya hindi pantay yung lamig ng aircon ko, kasi for a month na non stop using, my aircon never fails to impress, kahit napakainit ng sikat ng araw maginaw parin at wala pa sa kalahati yung thermostat! ngayon kahit nakatodo na wala paring lamig sa likod! naloko kaya kami? dapat ba namin silang bayaran? san ba talaga problema? sa evaporator? expansion bulb? please, i need your help asap, i have a 2 year old son na may asthma so nd pdng mainit sa loob ng van especially ngayon na summer na... please reply asap, anyone... help!

    P.S. try ko sana punta kay MM pro I have to finish this problem first with EFH kasi medyo malaking pera pinag uusapan dito eh, due date ko tomorrow, try ko paayos ulit kasi wala na naman lamig sa likod and pag di nila naayos di ko sila babayaran, pagawa ko nalang kay Mang Mario, right guys?

    The Php11,000 evaporator should've raised a red flag already. Never mind kung kakilala o ano pa. Dun pala lang taga na. Ang cleaning ng dual air kina Mang Mario, alam ko hindi lampas ng Php1,500 all-in (wala ka nang iba pang babayaran). Malamang madami pang hidden charges ang 'kakilala' ng driver mo. Saka bakit pinalitan yung expansion valve kung hindi naman sira? Malamang iyan ang cause ngayon kung bakit hindi pantay lamig ng a/c. Baka hindi kaya mag-full open ng valve.

    Bihira ako mag-abot ng higit Php10k kay Mang Mario for work that he does. And all in na iyon. Labor, material, parts. Kahit yung ga-higanteng rear evaporator ng MB100, mura lang sa kanya kahit original ang kunin mo. Yung replacement mas mura pa pero kapag MB100, ayaw niya irecommend yung replacement. Ok daw iyon kung hindi masyadong malaking evaporator like sa front a/c or sa mga sedans pero not for the MB100 na sing lapad ng sasakyan yung rear evaporator.

    Marami ding nagpupunta kina Mang Mar after ma-taga ng ibang shop. There was an incident with a Vitara daw na sobrang daming pinalitan. Pumayag naman yung owner kasi kakilala daw niya yung shop. Pero hindi pa din naayos. Yun pala parang may lumuwag lang tapos hinigpitan lang ni Mang Mar, ok na ulit.

    ask for a second opinion nalang dahil mahirap magbitiw ng salita without inspection. though a 60 psi charge is already over the limit. overcharge can destroy your a/c system.

    Here my latest experienced kay Mang Mario...

    Last friday, Mar. 9, friday, punta ako dun at exactly 8am para pagawa ko yung aircon ko kasi biglang nawala yung lamig and may naririnig akong sumisipol sa bandang area ng evaporator. pang 3rd ata ako nun sa pila nung dumating ako, nakasabay ko si antico that time pa-convert sya to jdm evap sa ek nya (nice to meet you sir). nung tiningnan ni Mang Mario personally, sinabi ko yung simptoms and sabi nya, may leak daw yung compressor. so pinababa nya sa tao nya yung compressor ng auto to check (feeling ko that time mahal babayaran ko). nung ni-leak test nung tauhan ni Mang Mario, nagka-leak daw sa may bandang puwetan ng compressor, hinigpitan lang daw then leak test ulit tapos ok na. Nung binalik na nila yung compressor then karga ng freon and test. Lumamig pero parang hilaw yung lamig tapos biglang bumama yung idle ng engine as in sobrang baba to the point na namamatay yung engine while testing the aircon. Ni -check nila Mang Mario and sabi daw yung idle-up di nagana. This makes me wonder kasi last year, nung nagpa-linis me ng evap sa kanya, same thing happened na after linis then karga ng freon bumaba rin idle. pina-tune up ko kay speedyfix then nung tiningnan naman nila yung idle-up ok naman daw. Napansin ko nung habang kinakargahan ng tao ni Mang Mario ng freon, umapos na sa 50 yung pressure. Eh ang alam ko sa mga typical honda sedan, nasa 30-35 lang daw yung ideal pressure para sa compressor. Back to my story, nung sinabi ng tao ni Mang Mario na ok na daw kasi malamig na nga. Then nagbayad na ako, (isip ko that time baka mahal yung labor kasi binaba yung compressor). Charged nila sakin 500 lang, ayos! Although di me satisfied sa lamig, inisip ko na lang na baka kasi tanghali na noon kaya ganun lang yung lamig nya. Alis na ako, then on the way home, halfway na ako sa travel, biglang nawala na naman yung lamig as in hangin na lang. And pansin ko hirap yung makina ko sa pagtakbo. Iniisip ko nga dahil sa high pressure ng compressor. Sabi ko baka ibalik ko na lang bukas kina Mang Mario. Kaso, may lakad kami ng family ko so di ko na nadaan nung sat. Sunday, inisip ko na ibalik ko na lang ng Monday. Come monday, since sobrang layo ko kina Mang Mario ang baka sabihin lang uli sakin na idle-up yung problem. Pinatingnan ko na lang doon sa aircon shop along p.gil sa may paco area. Dito ko kasi pinagawa yung bearing replacement ko last January. Diagnose nung Aircon Mechanic, hi-pressure daw and electricals. Nung una, check yung mga connections ng wirings sa aircon, relays and test kung may busted na fuse. Pinabawasan ko na rin yung pressure and they set it to 35. (Sabi pa nung Mechanic, baka daw hinabol yung bula doon sa oil) On idle, malamig pero hilaw pa rin. Naisip ko kung baka baka barado na yung sa evaporator pero di ko na muna pinatingnan. Sabi ko, ok na siguro. Charge nila sakin, 300 lang (nakatawad ako ng 50 petot, 350 dapat). Takbo na kami kasama ko si Wifey. After 2 blocks, biglang nawala yung lamig, ikot kami pabalik then sabi ko nawala yung lamig nung tumatakbo na. Check nila ulit yung wirings, relays and fuse baka daw may loose connections. Check din nila kung nag-engage yung auxfan once on yung compressor. This time, spray nila ng WD40 yung mga relays and sockets, ok na naman and lumamig ulit yung aircon...kaso nga parang hilaw pa rin yung lamig. Test ko daw ulit so ikot kami 2nd time and yes, nawala ulit yung lamig. Check na naman nila ulit and this time, ni-check nung isa yung sa may evaporator. Tinanggal na yung IC (blackbox) sa may evap, spray nya ng WD40 and napansin nya may bakbak ng konti yung plate nung Ic. After nalinis ng WD40, kinabit nya ulit then test. AYUN OH! May kakaibang lamig, double check nila, tanggal yung IC then wala yung lamig, balik ulit then ayun na naman, ang lamig talaga.

    My point here is (based from my experienced with Mang Mario), that his associates does not know all the posibilities in solving this kind of scenario. I think Mang Mario's shop is more concentrated on the Aircon Mechanical's rather that electrical components. If your going to ask me, I'd still go to Mang Mario for cleaning, freon charging and jdm conversion. I just have to closely monitor the freon pressure when they will charge on my vehicle. Still I got tipid meals (500 from Mang Mario and 300 from Wilco Aircon Shop) on both compared to others which charge more. Sorry for the long story and hope I have enlighten you guys.

    Yup, pwede naman maaga. Minsan ako na gumigising sa kanila. Just don't count on work to start immediately since the a/c techs live in a different house (one tricycle away AFAIK). The best that Mang Mario can do is open the gate, let you in, and give you an initial diagnosis.

    I was there today. I was driving home when I noticed that the #3 blower setting on the Starex was not working so I made a pitstop at MM's shop. Norman fiddled with the thermistor [tama nga ba ang term ko] and the blower had all speeds working again.

    i was there yesterday around 8am. pinalitan yung drier and isang valve ng aircon ko. bigla kasi nawala ang lamig. total cost kasama ang cleaning at freon P3.2k. pero ginawang P3k na lang para wala na daw butal.

    sobrang happy ako kasi ang lamig lamig na ngayon ng aircon ko. humihina na kasi yun at just last week totally nawala na yung lamig.

    btw, sabi sa akin nung isang kausap ko dun, i should keep my aircon settings like this: keep the temperature lever to the leftmost slot (coldest), tapos set the fan to number 2. kasi daw, automatic naman daw magdidis-engage yung compressor pag malamig na. ginagawa ko kasi dati, the lever is at 75% and the fan is either 1 or 2 para tipid gasolina. my car is a civic 98.

    vtec civic 98 walang thermostat selector yun pinasasagad sa yong lever is the vent of the heater , factory set ang thermostat ng vtec 98

    i have a problem sa dual aircon ko, un harap na aircon lumalamig, un sa likod fan lang... barado na kaya ito? nagparecharge kasi ako ng freon, after 2 days ganito na nagyari.

    panu ba maglinis ng aircon na european car si mang mario? tangal ang dash board o dinudukot tulad ni daknee?
